I’ve been having fun getting back into my scenemo art style, so decided to draw something in AJ :3

Really like this one, very nostalgic for me. And using AJPW’s art studio is always a fun challenge. Let’s me let go of my perfectionism, and just draw for fun.

This wasn’t planned, just a random sketch that I randomly did and decided to finish. I love it. I really like my colour and rendering here.

I was inspired by Scene and Gyaru fashion. It’s really just another 2000s/2010s nostalgia piece, coz I always do that lol

This will definitely be a print when I open my shop :3 

So that Monster high IG story about music artist Collaborations…

It got me inspired to do a Babymetal x Monster High oc.

Of course they are a Kitsune, with 3 tails to represent the 3 Metal spirits. Their colours and patterns are based off the fox masks on the “Kon Kon” shirt (coz I have that one, and I love it <3) I also combined elements from the newest and previous uniform to make the dress. 

I mean it’s never gonna happen, so I had to do it myself. 🤘🏻🦊

Honestly really happy with how I drew them here. I normally struggle with their faces and Val’s fuck ass hair, but I think I finally got it ⭐️

Does the lighting make any sense? No. Do I care? Also no. Just ignore it.

He’s a Boogeyman but of daydreams instead of nightmares 

I tried To replicate the G1 art style and the old bio pages. And honestly think I did good so :p

Mal dreamer is a play on “maladaptive daydreaming” And yes the lazy eye was intentional, as I have them myself. Lots of clouds and Star motifs coz A: I like em. And B: the sayings “head up in the clouds” & “starry eyed”

This was the original from 2024, so lots of improvement lol. And this is the template I put together, may use it again if I draw any more G1 OCs :3

I know in the canon that exists now. Val isn’t really shown to have internalised homophobia. it’s instead shown as him just not knowing he was gay, and then when he found out, he was like “cool! I like men”

Which is hilarious lol

However I was in the Spellntine trenches back when Garrett first posted that IG story.

And I still am attached to the idea of Val being afraid and ashamed of his queerness. I know it’s not canon anymore. Val seems VERY comfortable in his sexuality in the comics and new diary lol

But I still mourn the Valentine who jumps at hand holding, let alone a kiss. The Valentine who so badly wants to love, and be loved, but runs away from it like it will burn him if it gets too close. The Valentine who silently thinks that being gay makes him more evil than being a heartbreaker, because the world he’s lived in for so many centuries has been fine with and even praised one, and crucified people for the other.

The drama of Spelldon struggling to deal with a closeted boyfriend. One who rushes towards him, yet just as quickly pulls away.

Buuutttttttt I totally get why they didn’t go that route with his character arc. A kiss sending Val into a panic attack is fun angst and all, but a bit too much for what is supposed to be a tween franchise. Lol

I like seeing Val happy, in love and comfortable. But the representation for people whose self acceptance wasn’t that easy would have been nice too. Especially since we don’t see that kind in children/teen media a lot. I notice adult media gets the internalised homophobia, and the kids media gets the “oh! I like (the same gender)” which I get, because one is representing a story for people who can handle heavy topics, and the other is representation for teaching young people that being different is normal. 

Overall, both interpretations of Val’s journey are valid. I like both, and switch between them when I’m writing Aus and such lol

I really was a fool to think Val’s internalised homophobia would make him scared of queer intimacy. Especially publicly.
