Poetic musings amidst the bamboo gardens of one's dreams. Should you find yourself here, be not afraid to take solace under the canopy. Rest easy knowing you are safe.

Welcome to the Bamboo Grove

It seems you have stumbled upon my grove of Respite, traveler. Do make yourself at home while I prepare us something to drink. Are you more partial to tea or hot cocoa?

I know not what brought you here, but I want you to know that you are more precious to us than the stars in the sky, please never stop shining.

Hello my little beans, I hope you’ve been keeping well! Never be afraid to reach out if you need anything, I’ll be here to lend an ear and listen.

What I do: I’m a freelance writer and a recent university graduate who always had a tumblr but never actively used it. This is my main blog where I generally talk about hyperfixations and dragons. I may occasionally reblog works from my writing blog as well.

You can find me:

Writing Blog: ---- Flight Rising: Pensacola AO3: ----

Interaction:

Asks: Always Open Requests: Open on Writing Blog

Small Warning: I do follow nsfw creators so if you look into my likes or who I follow, please understand and tread lightly. I will never reblog explicit things onto this blog but maybe there’s some spicy things from time to time. OK beanlings?

Other: Archon wings at the bus stop, Gnosis left on top of the bar... Celestia doesn’t want me back, but that’s okay with me

I hate that ‘bad dream’ just means ‘nightmare’ instead of ‘shitty quality dream.’ I had a bad dream last night. It wasn’t scary it just didn’t make a lot of narrative sense

Ok

i have maintained ever since i WAS that suicidal fifteen year old that "your teenage years are the best years of your life" is a) the worst thing you can say to a suicidal teenager* and also b) COMPLETE fucking bullshit. your teenage years SUCK. your twenties are better but I PROMISE you, your thirties? WAY better. you know who you are and you're properly too old to give a fuck who disapproves. even though things may be fucked it's just easier to get through.

*like seriously? you see someone who wants to die and your response is 'well everything gets worse after this'? just hand them the fucking knife at that point.

holding you by the hands: you know that the "you" in a 2nd person pov isn't literally you right? you know that even in a "reader insert" story it is still a character, right? you recognize that because they are not actually you they may make choices different from the one that you would make for the sake fo the story, right? you know that? you know that the only "you" that exists in the context of the story is the you that is reading it? right?

Big fan of characters realizing they don't get to die. They have to live. And grow. And be a person. And deal with shit they thought they'd never have to. And be fucked up about it. I would like more of this. Enough dying for honor or as redemption. It ain't. You're just a corpse. There is no moral value in dirt time.

I've told this story before, but one time when we were on a panel, Tim Zahn said that killing a character is always easier (because, at the very least, you literally do not have to write them anymore), so if you're not sure you need to do it, make them live.

i hate that it's seen as a radical idea to think that disabled people deserve to live comfortably. not just bare bones survival, but comfortably. they deserve to thrive, even. deserve to live gluttonously if they so desire. everyone else gets at least bare minimum opportunities to spend their money on treats and special things - and disabled people live to indulge too if they so desire, without shaming them. expecting them to live with monetary scraps is evil and torturous. this doesn't even cover those who aren't financially supported, nor does it cover the reality that whatever monetary scraps they do get are able to be taken away at any point.

current life rules:

  • say yes to the fun but exhausting thing
  • do more side quests
  • let yourself be bored sometimes
  • less screen time!!
  • tell people you love that you appreciate them
  • get the hard stuff done piece by piece
  • don’t let embarrassment stop you from trying again and again and learning

Please never apologize for being affectionate. If your first instinct is to reach for my hand, send me another text, or tell me you miss me, I hope you never teach yourself not to. The right person won't think you're "too much."
