Legato is annoyed that Knives didn't tell him about the plans. and Legato doesn't hide it. he asks "and?". he's waiting for an explanation from Knives as if he owes him these explanations. slaves don't behave like that. they don't take such liberties with their masters because they're afraid of them and they are afraid of punishment. Legato is not afraid of this, nor is he afraid of Knives, even after he broke his body for disobedience. (however, Legato still does not always obey him and sometimes acts for his own purposes). this frame speaks to my thought, which I consider to be canon. Legato is not afraid of Knives. he loves him, he respects him, worships and serves him. but he's not afraid.
