i love this debate → Is THING belong in CATEGORY? and the answer is usually: CATEGORY is not UNIVERSAL or COHERENT. it is ascribed, intermittent, contingent, vague, politically purposeful, doable, and undoable. CATEGORY is not FACT. CATEGORY is a PROCESS. we are always doing the PROCESS of CATEGORY. we are always MAINTAINING category through its processes. so IS thing belong in CATEGORY can become → why is it IMPORTANT that thing belong in category or not belong in category? important to WHOM? why is it important to THEM/US? what are WE trying to achieve with CATEGORY? if our uses are clarified, the purposes of our proposals can be a little more honest.

Pretty sure I would identify way more with the whole "asexual pervert" thing if it had been less co-opted into "I support asexuals because they're all cool perverts!" Like, as a person who does like sex in fiction, as long as I can find the right (and usually weird) kind, I want there to be visibility for aces who engage with kink — and yet, as a person who is so repulsed by sex involving myself, there is nothing more repulsive than having to perform a particular relationship with sex in order to gain validity and approval. Which absolutely also describes the sentiment of "I respect aces because they write the best smut!"

Asexual perverts deserve better than being your fucking token. And asexuals who don't meet your sexual standards deserve better than having their own asexualities so goddamn belittled and sidelined.

If you find yourself about to make a post about kinky asexuals or asexual perverts: Are you talking about "asexual perverts" as one variation of infinite possible relationships with asexuality that all are worth advocating for? Are you talking about "asexual perverts" to bring attention to particular needs or desires that asexual people might have while engaging in sexual and/or kinky relationships? If so, that's good. Keep doing that; the world needs more of that.

But alternatively, are you talking about "asexual perverts" because your association with asexuality is handing out water bottles at the orgy, or creating kinky sexual content for your pleasure? Are you talking about "asexual perverts" to show how much you accept asexuals, despite not engaging in any topics involving sex repulsion (and perhaps, not even being aware that there are kinky sex-repulsed asexuals)? If this is what you're doing, then you do not actually support asexuals. Perverts or otherwise.

definitely canon conversation with the core four in stink bug au

Scott, thinking about Abolish: I want him.

Shelby: as like…. a pet?

Pyro: or… in a sex way?

Owen: I hope you mean you want him *dead*

Scott: …

Scott, wistfully: yeah

Queue the other three looking at each other confused as Scott saunters away (to go be weird with Abolish in the woods)

The townsfolk: what are we going to do about Scott?

Abolish: I’m gonna take him out.

Cleo: with a gun?

Drift, squinting nervously: …on a date?

Abolish has already walked away.

bbc merlin except camelot had a newspaper and every once in a while there’d be some headline along the lines of “king arthur and his manservant disappearing for long intervals together in the woods Which Could Mean Nothing”

I love adding a footnote. Whenever I add a footnote I'm like oh yeah, this is real academia. I'm doing it I'm doing academia.

It's like we're sharing a little secret. A little sidebar in the wings of the Thesis Stage.

Footnote that just takes you to an extremely tiny photo of me in a towel, looking shocked, and it says "oh! i'm so sorry, i didn't realize you'd come straight here. i thought you'd finish the paragraph first so i had time to wash my hair..."
