My friend thinks Carol Holiday is homophobic.
I think sheās classist.
What is your interpretation of why she doesnāt like Susie?
well from carol's point of view, susie is a mean girl. she is deliberately late to class, causes trouble both in and out of school, and seemingly has a rough background. one day, she finds not only said troublemaker in her house, but playing with missing-but-probably-dead daughter's beloved guitar. i'm not surprised she had an instantly hateful reaction -- the concept of carol being very protective over her loved things (e.g. the bronzed snowflakes, cancelling school when it rains so noelle's safe, keeping dess' room seemingly unchanged ever since dess went missing, noelle saying her mom keeps "everything important" at home, etc.) is repeated to us over and over. ik she puts up a cold front but you gotta remember this is a grieving woman.
plus, all this with the roaring knight conspiracy that her and kris are involved in, knowing that the guitar has one of the shelter codes, would probably make her very panicked and react ill-fittingly.
TL;DR i don't think she truly dislikes susie. she just reacted aggressively bc she didn't know her and this random uninvited girl was messing around in her house with dess' guitar.
