some of you need to stop psychoanalising your kinks and start doing mad scientist shit to them instead.
no more "do I enjoy being tied up because I secretly crave an excuse not to fight back against intimacy because of my mother", that is dumb and useless.
start doing shit like "what do I like about being tied up? what part of it gets me going?" and then once you have isolated the components of the kink that are the main drivers, look for all the other kinks that contain them. mix and match. get creative. experiment.

i'm reintroducing myself: i'm deidre, a 29-year-old recent graduate student who had to leave the country my graduate program was in due to an inability to re-up my visa due to financial strain. i've been back in the states for a few months now, and applying to jobs both in-person and remote, either hearing nothing back or finding out via job sites that i was passed for a position.
i do not have family to lean on through all of this, instead depending on my friendships. the current struggle is in the form of no money and still having monthly bills to pay.
i am now 31+ days late on my storage unit fee for last month, and soon the storage unit will be auctioned off. my storage unit is 3,000 miles way on the other side of the country, and i cannot empty it. it normally costs around $225 to maintain, but because i have missed this month's pay there is now an additional fee of $170, totally my fee to $567.
i am currently at 150/567 for this fee.
there are other financial holes i've dug myself due to the job market being so abysmal, but this one would mean i lose everything i own except for one suitcase.
i don't enjoy begging or reaching out like this, but i don't have any other options. please help in any way you can
my credit card is about to go to collections and i need to pay $219 for the next three months to stop that, i’m waiting for my substitute credentials to go through so i can start making a living again. any help appreciated!

Making a new post for the end of the month
Long story short, My elderly Mother and I are both disabled and we're Homeless. We're staying in a hotel because its the safest option for us.
Its $98 a night and $688 a week.
Mom gets her SSI on the 1st, and we have the room paid for until the 25th which means we literally only have one week left to get through.
Literally any amount of help would be incredibly appreciated, really and truly.

if it had been kirk or even riker pulling that shit with sarina douglas in chrysalis, instead of bashir, we never would have seen her crash out and it would have just been like "well that was weird... but i guess it's ok." like that episode where kirk seduces that slave girl on the collar planet with the gladiators. ds9 is just built different, because it's the "depressing" one. and yet, it's less depressing for me to see the women having negative emotions than it is to see everybody pretend all this is good and fine and normal. ds9 is the one that feels truly optimistic to me. with tng, it's just too much of a comfort food fantasy. i am just insane, because all of this is just hollywood hack network tv. it's cringe to care so much.
tynion lowkey copies robin wood’s backstory for a batman character he introduced called clownhunter. clownhunter is a 17 year old vietnamese american kid named bao pham whose parents used to own a restaurant in gotham. one day, back when harley quinn was the joker’s partner in crime, harley and the joker stopped by bao’s parents’ restaurant, ate a nice meal, and shot them both dead while bao watched and harley giggled. after that, bao decided it was his mission to protect his neighborhood from the joker and his goons, and he took up the name clownhunter as he beat up all the joker minions who came to his neighborhood. years later, during the joker war, clownhunter is working with batman to defend the city from the joker. harley quinn is also working with batman, because this is long after she has left the joker and she wants to be more of a good guy now. but clownhunter still hates harley and wants to kill her for bringing the joker into his parents’ restaurant and being complicit in their senseless deaths. harley owns up to what she did and says he’s justified in wanting her dead, but he sees that she’s changed and lets her live. tynion obviously does a way better job with this concept than btvs. bao is portrayed way more sympathetically and although we love harley and know she’s changed we totally get where he’s coming from. it’s interesting how tynion seems to take elements from robin wood’s backstory but approaches the story in a smarter way and is able to tell a story that’s much more sound and compelling

noted that Robin Wood is excused from the whole spike conversation because he's justified in literally everything he did. like even if you didn't pretend the show was being uniquely crazy racist by putting him in the position he was & how it is that he's the only black character here who just happens to be wrong about everything and unjustified in his anger and I could make a whole seperate post unpicking that but like. imagine your mom was killed by a tiger. and in this scenario we must also imagine that tigers are ontologically evil. imagine your mom was killed by an ontologically evil tiger and so you spent your life fighting tigers that kill people , and then you run into the Head Tiger Killer who's continuing your mom's legacy of Head Tiger Killer and she's hanging out with the tiger that killed your mom. and you must imagine in this bad metaphor that tigers are ontologically evil parasites that do nothing for the world but kill people so maybe it's more like the concept of a virus, but like, whatever. the virus tiger. covid tiger. and the head tiger killer is like don't worry the tiger that killed your mom doesn't kill people anymore he's good. and you're like, what? he's a tiger. that's not how it works. and she goes no I trust him 🥺. and you go are you in love with the tiger? and she goes no though she clearly is. and then you find out that the tiger that killed your mom who is supposedly a vegetarian tiger could accidentally snap and kill anyone at any moment. and you're like okay in this scenario our best course of action is to kill the tiger. we cant risk the tiger killing people in our house, you know like it killed my mom. and the head tiger killer is like but he's literally vegetarian now! and then the tiger tells you your mom never loved you

trying to think of which btvs characters AREN’T fan favorites and i think it’s just xander and dawn? and riley? like of all the main-ish characters. joyce as well but you don’t ever really expect a character with her role and presence to be a fan favorite i think. she’s there to be The Mom. i wonder if xander was more popular back in the day, when that kind of character didn’t set off red flags so much. i know there were ppl writing xander/angel and xander/spike fanfiction like it was nobody’s business

end of fool for love is still soooo crazy. what if a vampire was in your yard and he had a gun but then you were sad about your mom and so instead of shooting you he sat down on the porch next to you and awkwardly put down the gun beside him and patted your shoulder. questions buffy the vampire slayer was asking in the year 2000
with both angel and spike what btvs is doing is using the vampire metaphor to explore feelings of inadequate masculinity, right? angel fears he is not the right kind of man for buffy. because he is a vampire, he can’t be the man she needs. he is even literally impotent - he wouldn’t be able to give her kids. and then angelus is sort of a flip side of that, where it’s a manifestation of angel’s misogynistic urges and it’s angel abusing buffy in order to feel powerful in his masculinity. and then with spike and buffy it’s similar, where spike is contrasted with riley who is the most masculine manly man and who spike can never be. buffy can never consider spike a viable romantic partner because his vampirism and soullessness make him inherently inadequate, ie, he’s not man enough. and then when they start sleeping together part of spike’s frustration about buffy using him for sex but not caring about his feelings is that he feels emasculated by it, which is part of what causes him to lash out and attempt to rape her in seeing red
