How do you balance learning new skills with coding, animation, art, game design, and music all at once. I’m trying to get into making music and games myself but I also have long term projects I’m also working on like short stories and a webcomic. Any suggestions or wisdom you can share?

i focused on learning a new thing one at a time, branching into areas where skills overlapped. i learned 3d modeling and animation first in highschool. then game design and programming in college. these skills synergized well because i needed 3d modeling and animation to make assets to code into a game, and of course to make cutscenes. then i started to make animations outside of games with my lil low poly fursona to cultivate my animation skills even further!
i didnt do everything all at once, i just have the benefit of doing this for 19 years ;)
what do you think everyones fursona would be/is in hlvrai or its ilk? this includes the gnome
I can only speak for the characters that I wrote and played.
- Dr. Coomer is an old fart & a little out of touch in ways you'd find surprising given he likes the internet and video games, but also in touch in ways you'd find surprising given that he's out of touch, so I think he'd have a firm enough grasp of what furry fandom / culture is, but his answer would be something really bog-standard sounding & kinda stereotypical, like a wolf or a laborador retriever. That or he'd say some crap like "ah, like the funny animal c'toons of my youth... You know, I always felt a deep kinship with that Bug Bunny fellow... Maybe it's something like that!" I don't think he'd put too much thought into it.
- Father Grigori doesn't understand the concept. You'd try to explain it to him, and he would immediately decide on "a raven, like my holm. Or perhaps the noble sheep dog." and that'd be the end of it. Three to five days later he'd run up to you in a cold sweat, raving about how difficult this all is, & how he can't pick between "the wise proboscis monkey" or "the ferocious bear, coming to the defense of the old and infirm, as in the bible". It would stress him out & he'd overthink it a lot.
- Food Suit's on-board AI would make a comment about wanting to be a human & then say "USER PRANKING DETECTED. GOT YOU SO GOOD. REVEALING FURSONA." & print out an ASCII image of an 8 foot fat dragon woman wide as she is tall with tits to match. Or a tapeworm. (Tape-wyrm?)
- The blue gnome's fursona is an elephant.
- The red gnome wouldn't tell you & anything he'd say about it would be a lie, even if it wasn't.
- Yeah Hank wouldn't really know what that is. I think you'd try to explain the concept to him at a bar & he'd be like "So it's like a werewolf, but for every animal? Heh, bad ass... Can I be a dead animal? 'Cuz I wanna be one of those scary ass dinosaurs. RAAAAHH!! Y'know?" He wouldn't specify a dinosaur. I think he'd be supportive of it if someone in his life meaningfully connected with it, like that one guy from Insane Clown Posse with his kid.
- BBVRAI Skylar is afforded no interiority; in a rare moment of lucid thought I think she would feel a connection to the black-tailed jackrabbit.
- The cartel homunculus fursona would be a hawk.
- Real Actual Holly Hollowtones Who Spoke One Line In BBVRAI As A Joke would say "I think I feel more of a connection to selkies than to a fursona these days."
Disco Elysium - The Final Cut (2021)
My first cover project. I wanted to make a nice looking back up box and originally just use original scans for that but they were all low quality and had the PS4 logo and I felt like the box could be better in some areas.
The regular cover art. The front is rebuild, keying out Kim and Harry and rearranging the background art to be geographically more true to the actual level art. The back I puzzled together from various promo texts. I took some small inspiration from the actual PS4 box art.
Variant. I prefer this version because it doesn’t have the “determined character with weapon” trope that so many games go with. It’s also a bit more unhinged.
This disk art I painted myself after not finding any fitting art for the disk. (The retail disk just uses the same painting of Harry and Kim again.) All other art is the original art by Studio ZA/UM artists.
The uncompressed cover files, versions with bleed, ESRB versions and some more variants are in this Google Drive folder.
In case you want to use this: The cover fits in a standard DVD Case. For best results, use a semi gloss photo paper. Semi gloss is hard to find, but looks best in my opinion. I had to try a few different ones until I found one that worked for me. The game doesn’t fit on a DVD though, you’ll need a Blu-ray. I got my copy from GOG, which is DRM-free.
Okay I'm lowkey obsessed with @katiknitt's comic about Alan Turing going to the Digital World. So I had to play with the Digimon from it. Behold- Turinmon!
This Digimon claims to have existed since the dawn of computers, but its data contains no evidence that this is true. It attacks with sticky electric tape, similar to the tape of a Turing machine. This tape is stored around its arms.
The comic was black and white, so I just splashed Totodile-paint on my critter. I couldn't really erase the Agumon from its DNA completely. But I got the bulbous nose the best I could, and I'm proud of the belt!
I might use this little critter in Digimon Lost Concepts (and I'll credit/link the comic if I do), but for now, Turinmon's just hanging out. The bonus panel of this comic does have an extra Digimon but ehhhh...that one's harder to draw. Maybe I'll swoop back to that one at a later date.
