"The trannies should be able to piss in whatever toilet they want and change their bodies however they want. Why is it my business if some chick has a dick or a guy has a pie? I'm not a trannie or a fag so I don't care, just give 'em the medicine they need."

"This is an LGBT safe space. Of COURSE I fully support individuals who identify as transgender and their right to self-determination! I just think that transitioning is a very serious choice and should be heavily regulated. And there could be a lot of harm in exposing cis children to such topics, so we should be really careful about when it is appropriate to mention trans issues or have too much trans visibility."

One of the above statements is Problematic and the other is slightly annoying. If we disagree on which is which then working together for a better future is going to get really fucking difficult.

Someone who says they don't care if dudes wear dresses and makeup is a better ally than someone who says they're a safe space for women and non-binary people. I am not joking.

yeah I went to a gay bar recently with my husband tumblr user beemovieerotica, and a VERY confused capital S Southerner straight man in cargo shorts and a trucker hat showed up

apparently he (who through my drunken memory I remember only as Earl) liked some woman, and she told him that he wasn't cultured enough and needed to attend his first drag show (she also flaked on him)

Now I'm reasonably androgynous and was wearing makeup, a short leather skirt, and black heeled boots, but still when this guy came up to me when I was standing off alone and asked "So. Do you come here often?" with a very earnest expression, I thought. Surely not. This guy doesn't think I'm a straight woman does he????

Anyway I start talking with this guy and he has no idea what the fuck is going on but he is just a very kind and earnest dude and asked a lot of questions (while asking if it was alright if he asked those questions). I track down my husband and friends and I'm like y'all. We need to make sure that Earl has a Good Fucking Time tonight.

Man was completely out of his depth. At one point they put on a puppy auction to raise money for Pride, that started with a 6 ft drag queen in all her glory leading a leather pup out on a leash to the tune of that damned RSPCA "in the arms of the angels" song

We look at Earl. Nervous. He squints, laughs, and then goes "I was wondering why people were dressed like that!" He turned to me and asked "So they're like dogs?" And I said yeah pretty much. And he just chuckled and went "Yeah I thought so with the tails! Never seen this before!"

When the first drag king came out, Earl looked at me wide eyed and went "There's a dude version too?!" And I said yeah they're called drag kings. And he said, low, "Drag kings."

During one of the queens performances, he frowned, shook his head and told me, "Your legs are better than hers." in a tone that implied he thought there was some travesty taking place and I should also be getting paid

When he found out I was there with my husband (and that I am not a woman) he profusely apologized and said "I'm so sorry, it's dark in here and I thought you were a hot chick! I wouldn't have said nothing if I knew you had a husband, I'm so sorry about that."

When beemovie invited me to the dance floor with him later and I still had a drink in my hand, Earl said "Oh don't worry about that I can hold your drink, you get on out there and shake your ass with your husband!" Then before we left, Earl bought me drinks for "Putting up with me all night and answering everything. Y'all helped me have a great time tonight."

like. You gotta recognize there's going to people who have never had interacted outside of their of their own community. This includes you. And just because your community is familiar with all the right vocabulary and how to correctly say something, it doesn't mean they're actually going to support you. If someone like Earl shows up, confused and out of their depth but kind and curious and earnest, you gotta have patience and truck through the small things, so when he goes back to his friends and his coworkers and they snicker asking how the drag show was, he can genuinely talk about how included we tried to make him feel and that he had a great time

The person matters more than the language

cohost dot org is a new website

cohost is a lot like tumblr. you can have a blog, you can reblog things.

cohost is also a lot NOT like tumblr. it's explicitly anti-algorithm, no ads, and extremely transparent.

it's made by some friends of mine, and right now it's invite-only, but you can also make an account and you're put into a queue that's activated as the site scales up. I think it's a really cool project and I'm going to be on there more and more, i think.

it's totally free, and the culture is still starting, but there is some real top-tier Posting going on. you can check out the cohost twitter account for more information, but i really think this is gonna Be Something.

if we're mutuals feel free to reach out for an invite code, i have a few more saved up. (update signup is totally open now) the site's good, i love it, and i'm way less worried about some of the dumb shit that circles around sites like tumblr or twitter. for one thing, they're actively doing all these things:

i trust these folks, and i think the site's good. i think more people should be on it, and if you're used to tumblr you'll probably like cohost.

Reblogging this again to add things I've liked while splorin co-host:

  • You can add private notes about a user on their profile (only visible to yourself) which I've always wanted so I leave myself a reminder for "artist draws x character the way i like" or "blocked this guy for being a creep"
  • Marking content warnings are streamlined and collective so you dont have to filter out 50 versions of the same way to tag it (#tw, #cw, #cw:, etc)
  • It looks like they just took all the things people generally like from Tumblr and Twitter and built on it.
  • I like that "reblogs/retweets" are "shares"
  • And i also like that theres a waiting period after signing up to be able to post, but still lets me explore tags, functions, edit, etc. Like introducing a new cat
  • Asks, anons, replies are all there
  • Pinned tags to your profile for easy art tag or themed post organization
  • Other features i liked but cant think of at the moment

Tldr; hope it grows, it reminds me of a simplified tumblr from when i was younger in a good way

we have already. They don't know exactly what is up with it, other than the sweat being slightly more acidic than normal and the acidic mantle being thicker and Way more acidic than normal, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with acidosis. As far as we have tested, our family has had this since at least my great grandpa, and the guy lived to be 93 years old.

What the fuck.

Because in its younger days it used to have RGB lights:

Some of them still work, when they want:

Though I've long forgotten how to change the color settings

NEVERMIND I JUST REMEMBERED HOW

Imagine trying to claim op is wasteful for using a plastic keyboard after they show off something that looks like it belongs at Old Friends Senior Keyboard Sanctuary.

Am I wet? Am I on my period? Did I pee my pants?- next on wtf is going on down there.

I’m so glad this is a universal wondering among vagina-owners, haha.

‘Vagina-owners’

Tune in next time for: Are these menstrual cramps? Am I pregnant? Is it just gas? I wouldn’t have to ask these questions if I didn’t have a damn uterus

Next week: Is it a bladder infection? An ovarian cyst? Do I have endometriosis? Oh God please do not let it be cervical cancer! A 20/20 special

Y'all are forgetting the all-time classic: Is it just my period or is my appendix about to burst? Some nice tea and a heatpack or 911 and emergency surgery?

There is actually a test for that last one!

Place your hand over the pain, press down slightly and release. If the pain doesn’t change by any great margin, you’re fine. If it suddenly becomes some painful you can barely stand, Get thee to an Emergency Room

reblog for the safety of vaginas and their owners

The appendix test works with or without a vagina so reblogging for everyone.

Reblogging because I didn’t know this and it needs to be shared.

it sometimes sucks being considered smart while also being neurodivergent. they've set up such high expectations for me and when i inevitably can't reach them because of the fact my brain literally works differently they get disappointed.

my english prof boasted about being sooooo accessible and accommodating and accepting then handed out a syllabus that included:

- 4 absences = a fail in the class

- 3 tardys = an absence

- if you are more than 10 minutes late to class, you’re absent

- oh also class time starts 5 minutes before class starts

- if you have a written diagnosis for anything that would make you late you NEED to give it to her and it will be put in your file and you need PROOF!!!!! that your disability/sickness/whatever is what’s causing you to be late or absent!!!

- absolutely NO falling asleep in class

- absolutely NO phones or devices of any kind unless you have your own laptop to write on(but she prefers handwritten papers)

- absolutely NO recording of the class of ANY KIND. this includes video and voice recordings

- she goes home to a town an hour away after class ends so you can’t stay after class to finish or ask questions!!!!

- at least once every class there is a mandatory “brain exercise” which includes but is not limited to: walking around the building, running in place, jumping jacks, jumping in place, running down the sidewalk and back etc.

- she said “unless you have a written doctors note for why you can’t do this you MUST participate it will go into your grade as participation points”

- absolutely NO extra credit. there is only credit

- she also doesn’t accept late work at all!!! unless you have a WRITTEN DIAGNOSIS!!!!! and if you have an accommodation through the school. you MUST have both!!!!!

so basically she’s the LEAST accessible person on campus?

and we had to pick one topic to write about this entire semester and i chose disability advocacy and activism and that we can do in the medical world AND educational world to make things accessible to everybody who has any condition

i talked about how hard it is to get a diagnosis for some people(me) even for simple things because doctors and teachers and adults and PEOPLE never believe us to listen to us. then after class i told her i have a cane and chronic fatigue and chronic pain and heart issues etc and the only thing i’m diagnosed with is asthma and a heart murmur and i will not be participating in certain activities and i’m going to the school’s disability program and i WILL be getting accommodations without a single doctors note and if she has an issue then i will be dropping her class.

she said she likes my “fire” (whatever the fuck that means) and i’m the perfect person for her class.

and before y’all type and say “it’s just a college thing” and “welcome to real life”. bitch!! one of my professors noticed how tired i am and that i’ve been late like 6/8 classes and saw my cane and said “i don’t need to know your business, but if you need accommodations for ANYTHING talk to the disability program and they can help you with anything you need. if you need an advocate i will be there for you. school should be ACCESSIBLE”!!!! she’s going with me next week to ask if my professors can not mark me down for any tardiness or absences!!!!

so long story short: what the FUCK.
