grace, 30s | the elegant european woman didn't stay for tea but the promise of tomorrow hung in the air

im just so happy i live in a time period where actual meaningful biological transition is possible. even if we lose rights or the ability to exist in public, nothing can turn back the clock on that, and just by having any sort of access to that our lives are made immensely better. millions of our sisters throughout history would never have dreamed of a day where they could have what HRT does for us.

please don't lose the plot of this. if you're a trans person on HRT you're a living miracle, the dream of hundreds of millions of your ancestors. your lives are all deeply meaningful no matter what anyone says.

Cursed be the one who announced to my father: “It’s a boy!"... ...How could he twist the course of the stars so much? How could he have erred so in his astrology? A lying tongue, a fool’s mouth it had given him For he foolishly transformed justice to poison He altered the law and transposed the lines
Oh, but had the artisan who made me created me instead – a worthy woman... ...I would say "how lucky am I"
Father in heaven who did miracles for our ancestors with fire and water... ...Who would then transform me from a man to woman? Were I only to have merited this being so graced by goodness...
What shall I say? why cry or be bitter? If my father in heaven has decreed upon me and has maimed me with an immutable deformity then I do not wish to remove it. the sorrow of the impossible is a human pain that nothing will cure and for which no comfort can be found. So, I will bear and suffer until I die and wither in the ground. Since I have learned from our tradition that we bless both, the good and the bitter I will bless in a voice hushed and weak: blessed are you [HaShem] who has not made me a woman.

I think I'm gonna go lay down for a little while.

anytime some post about a republican of indian descent doing something stupid goes around on here i'm like 60% expecting to open the notes and find some shit like 'lol pajeet' [225 likes, 0 replies]

i'm neither the first nor will I be the last to note this, but a lot of you people really do give off 'latent racism energy' insofar as you are absolutely chomping at the bit for someone to come along that's an Acceptable Target so you can bust a fat racism nut with diminished fear of social censure

one of my earliest video game memories was my neighbor from down the street burning me a copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon onto a CD and giving it to me for free, with the caveat that one day a week he would sit behind me and backseat game HARD. like "build this here, okay now build this here, no not there, HERE, okay now make a path here," etc etc. i never minded it at the time, i genuinely had no idea how to play so i thought he was teaching me. years later i learned that him and his family were Orthodox Jewish and him backseat gaming me was his way of getting around the Sabbath ban on playing video games

the entire family was so fucking funny dude. one time they accidentally left a floodlight in their backyard on past midnight that was shining directly into my parents' bedroom, so they go over and knock on their door to ask "hey can you turn that light off?"

and they go "no. we cannot turn the light off :)" and then my parents remember it's technically the Sabbath and the parents in particular are so Orthodox they won't even directly ask people to do things for them. and they keep repeating "no, WE can't turn the light off :)" while holding the door wide open and angling their bodies towards the light switch

“Institutions work this way. A son is murdered by the police, and nothing is done. The institutions send the victims family on a merry-go-round, going from one agency to another, until they wear out and give up. This is a very effective way to beat down poor and oppressed people, who do not have the time to prosecute their cases. Time is money to poor people. To go to Sacramento means loss of a days pay- often a loss of a job. If this is a democracy, obviously, it is a bourgeois democracy limited to the middle and upper classes. Only they can afford to participate in it.” Revolutionary Suicide, Huey P Newton, pg. 155

fun tip: you actually can express thoughts and opinions on this event without being blatantly racist against indian people. I know it seems impossible but I believe that you can do it if you try really hard

“The old magic persists thanks to it’s unfathomable power.”

No, the old magic persists because the new magic can’t run the legacy spells I need to do my job, and keeps trying to install spirits I don’t want or need onto my orb.

Look, if the new magic didn't have a personality construct that kept trying to tell me which spells to use, maybe I wouldn't still be using the old magic.

Yes it had a deep blood cost, but at least it was a one time sacrifice and not this monthly bloodletting nonsense new age magic has

The old magic is robust enough to survive a decade of use and it's compatible with every wand, staff, scroll, and charm in our collection.

The new magic stops working after three days and every spell uses proprietary runes.

Our preferences, as an archiving institution, should be pretty clear.

You try to get guidance for the new magic and the king's sorcerers maybe will answer you in a few days with an unhelpful suggestion to buy the newest orb.

You need guidance for the old magic and a dozen retired middle-aged wizards will pop up to explain it to you rune by rune if necessary.
