Actually, it's the same with common right wing and neo-nazi language. "based*" "pilled [political metaphor section]" "maxxing" "incel" "chud*" "degenerate" .. I think for a community that focuses on being progressive, knowing history, and being up to date on current events, there's a lot of emphasis on trend following and blindly accepting new lingo/slang with no desire to know where it stems from nor how it's been used prior to coming into their vocabulary. It's not a new thing, of course, but I wish there was more of an emphasis on unlearning these behaviours.
*To a degree. Context matters a lot here, but I'm adding "based" because I feel like a lot of people just aren't aware of the circles it ran in for a long period. Chud is the same, having been "reclaimed" by 4chan, now sitting in the same neutral position as based; though "chud" is still more frequently used in right wing spaces than "based" is.
"But words change over time" you're right. Instead of "queer" being a reclamation for the LGBT+ community, let's go back to using it as a descriptor for people who are weird. Let's all make soyjak terms because their origins are rooted in tracing images of random people, let's turn our backs to how they're used to be bigoted to every minority under the sun. Let's complain about people using bedrotting inaccurately and turn around and call collections hoards.
MOGAI is a small community. A lot of people like to go "um we aren't niche!" on the basis that MOGAI is another acronym for LGBT, but if you were to ask the average person outside of neo-nazi or non-MOGAI queer spaces what sort of community this is, they wouldn't know. It is not possible to "reclaim" words/phrases in such a small community, and to everyone else it just looks like you're using dog whistles or words you've brutalised out of context, even accidentally.
I won't tell anyone to stop, there's no point in doing so. Actually, if this gains any traction, I'm willing to bet a lot of the interactions will be for boosting one's morals rather than legitimately taking it into account. If that sounds harsh, look back on how many times we've had this conversation, and despite all active, popular coiners reblogging posts, nothing changes. Nobody calls anyone out on things mentioned in the posts, either. I think that's disgraceful. I think the constant dismissal towards minorities who don't fall under orientation, gender, or disability is awful.
There's more of a focus on if someone's anti/pro endo, anti/proship, anti/pro contradictory labels than if anyone is accidentally perpetuating dog whistles. There's more of a focus on keeping people happy by reassuring them that there's nothing wrong with what they're coining because "it's in context!" rather than taking into account the feelings of people targeted by their accidental dog whistles. "Two things can exist at once" doesn't work as an excuse when barely anyone is calling this behaviour out.
I just don't think people here have the right to say "transnazis are ideological nazis, you can't just identify with the aesthetic because the aesthetic came from the ideology!" and then turn around and say "I don't identify with the political connotations, I just like the word because it's fun and meme-y!" as if they aren't the exact same argument, one being just slightly milder.
"But people can't control what they feel connected to" then make alternate terms.
If you can't find alternatives, then make them. Ask others to make them. I'm tired of the same excuses, if you can dismiss transharmed/transharmful identities on the basis that they harm others then you're capable of understanding why the same is necessary for these terms.
If a white person hopped on here claiming they were "[n word]gender" you'd scoff and assume they were a troll because of how outlandish and harmful it is. Claiming most of these are any different is shameful and egotistical. You have the chance to use any other term yet time and time again this community shows it does not care about minorities outside of those relevant to oneself.
Everyone can reblog posts about the issues in the MOGAI community but if you never practice what you preach you're just a self stroking hypocrite, and that's that.
