Walking Louie was a task. Though, I was prepared to do it. I’d loved animals since I was a child. They don’t carry the weight of judgment that humans do, they make me feel like a kid again if anything. “You know this album is gonna be big Louie, I can feel it in my bones. It has to be perfect for the fans they deserve it,” he looks off to the distance watching over the neighborhood. It’s always so beautiful at night. Walking further down the road I started to hear whimpers it almost sounded like someone was crying. “Do you hear it too, blink twice if you think we should go see?” The llama looks off in the distance then turns to me and blinks. “Alright, close enough let’s go see.” Before I know it, we find ourselves at a park. “Didn’t know there was one in this area, omg Louie they have swings. Too bad you can’t get on them right?…” Before I can even get a response out of him I notice that crying has gotten louder. We look over to the edge of the park and find a large tree. Behind it appears to be a girl young, but around my age maybe younger.
Today was the worst. I can say officially my life is over and I should start planning for the miserable future. Or lack of future at this point. I didn’t even notice how loud I was until I heard some leaves crunching under someone’s foot behind me. “If you planning on killing me right now, I wouldn’t exactly be opposed to it. Plus, it’s like midnight and I’m sitting in a park by myself as you can see I’m not the brightest so get it over with please.” I tried looking up to see my potential manic, but my eyes were so blurry and sore I could barely see anything. Until I heard a voice, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you I just overheard you crying and wanted to check on you.” The voice was extremely soft, like velvet upon the skin. For a moment, I had forgotten why I was even here in the first place. Crying alone, but the park had always been a safe haven for me. Finally, looking up I took notice of the eyes that were staring into my soul. Big and brown doe eyes. “Beautiful.” Wait no, I didn’t mean to say that out loud. Maybe I’ll get lucky and he isn’t even actually there.
“Ugh, thanks umm are you alright.” Great I just humiliated myself in front of this beautiful man and he is still being nice to me. My social skills are dead. “I would love to say I’m doing great, but as you can see these aren’t exactly tears of joy.” After a moment of just staring at each other he proceeded to take a seat in front of me. I feel like I’ve had a dream about this at some point. “Would you like to talk about it? I’m not the best at talking myself, I usually bottle up my emotions and get angry at myself later for it but I’m a great listener.” Sitting there with a patient look on his face he was waiting, this was weird someone was not only speaking to me longer than a minute but also cared about my well being. Maybe I need to cry in parks more often.
“I umm.. work in an ice cream shop, if you couldn’t tell by the ridiculous outfit I’m wearing. Trust me I don’t normally go for the whole polished banana split vibe.” Fixing my shift that didn’t need fixing I realized he was laughing maybe at my extremely bright clothing, but I hoped it was the sarcastic tone that drew him in. He has a real nice face , wait no focus. “Yea, so basically I put in an application about eight months ago when we moved here. Apparently, it takes 6 months to hire someone but only a solid two months to fire someone. Crazy, I like totally dedicated my life to Big Scoops, it’s pathetic I know. My goals are a bit much as you can see.” Finally looking up at his eyes, wow I’ve been staring at his jawline this whole time. I need help.
I gotta say, this conversation is the most entertaining thing I’ve ever really witnessed. She is very funny, and pretty. I don’t even know her name. I wonder what she typically does when she isn’t crying in parks. She should’ve even waste her time crying about this job, they don’t deserve her. “I can’t exactly say I speak from experience, I’ve never had a part time job. But, I can say it seems like the job just wasn’t worth you time. Maybe, the havens are saying you meant for a different purpose. A different path.” She was finally done crying and staring at me in awe. This was shocking, it seemed like she had no idea who I was and for the first time I was grateful for being invisible. “I understand you just laid down so killer advice for me and I appreciate it, entirely. But I just realized this whole time, you had a llama next you.” For a second, I held my breath, I thought she realized my true identity, the cloak of mystery was back on, and I finally let out the loudest laugh ever. To which she soon followed. “What’s her name?” I looked at Louie and he finally got close enough to me given me a look. Maybe he was thinking about that fact that she call him a girl or something. “She is in fact a he, his name is Louie by the way.”
Looking embarrassed she covered her head with her hands. Smiling up at me. God she is so beautiful. “Sorry, I naturally assume everything to be female even objects. I don’t know how many things I’ve misgendered in my lifetime. So, what do you do? When you aren’t helping distressed maidens in parks.” The sarcastic sense of humor was just another quality of hers that I was drawn too. I wanted to know everything about here. Hopefully, we could be friends or maybe more? “I do music or try too, and take care of my pets as you can see. He usually walk him around this time. It’s great for both of us.” I didn’t care to elaborate on the fact that I didn’t wish to be swarmed by fans or that I was Michael Jackson. I just wanted her to think of me as a normal guy. “Music, that’s cool I love music I listen to practically every thing though least I think.. Grew up with strict parents so now that I’ve technically entered adulthood they are finally loosening the ropes. Got a lot to catch up on.” Strict parents, boy don’t I know all about that subject. Though, I hope her parents aren’t like Joseph. “Yes, I can completely understand that.” She moved over to pet Louie and in the process her hand landed on my thigh. How was I over the moon about a girl I just met. No clue.
Rubbing my hand against the llama, I got lost in thought. First time meeting one though, I hoped he was ok with me rubbing his back. But he just looked at me as if saying “I’ll allow it.” Finally, I looked at my new friend, realizing exactly where my hand had landed. “Oo lord, I’m sorry truly I didn’t mean to do that. I promise.” He looked flustered, though he was the one trying to calm me down. Rubbing my shoulders he gently spoke up, “it’s fine. No harm done applehead.” To say I was smiling at him would’ve been an understatement of the century. He was so soft spoken and beautiful and he was smiling at me, I suddenly forgot why I was sad in the first place. Wait did he cure me? Getting lost in his eyes I finally looked down at my watch. Noticing the time I job up, startling him and poor Louie. “Oo shit, I completely done for, I lost track of time. My parents are gonna grind me into hamburger. I gotta go.” He looked sad for a moment, almost like he didn’t want me to leave. To be honest, neither did I, but I had to be home. “That’s umm yea you should get going then. Of course, don’t want you to turn into a burger.” We laughed at that, I didn’t want this connection to disappear though, reaching into my back pocket I grabbed my card. “Here, take this it’s my house cell, whenever you want to help out a girl in the park again call me.”
Laughing again at my remark he smiled at me, I’ll never get used to this beautiful man. Literally sweating as we speak, “this is a business card?” Looking down at the card I burst out laughing, that never fails to get old. “Yea, my parents are real estate agents. They even have there own firm. Make sure when you call me ask for Mira. My dad can be a bit over protective but now that I’m out of a job Im basically always free so yea.” He held the card in his hands, glazing at me with those big doe eyes. I could just evaporate right now, and die happy. “I’ll make sure to call you then, Mira.” Smiling up at him again, I started to rub towards my bike. Hoping to get home in time before my parents had my head on a stick. “Hey applehead,” I yelled out to him. Watching him turn around, seeing his beautiful curls spin. “Remember, with to call, because with a friend like me you’ll be happy for ever and Evers.”
She rode of in the distance night. I hoped I’d see her again soon. Couldn’t even control my smile. Looking down at the card I took notice of the slogan. “Evers real estate, keeping you happy for Ever and Evers.” Hitting the card against my hand, I smiled she is really something. “So, that’s what she meant, seems like walking you at night has really paid of, huh Louie? If this works out you can be my be at man. What do you think?” He was obviously just ready to go home. But me, for the first time in my live I was looking forward to something other than music or dancing. I was looking towards a solid pretty young thang, called Mira.
