Summary:
It’s a good plan. Cody has been revising it for weeks - ever since he made the decision to leave. It was not an easy decision to make. He is leaving behind everything that still feels vaguely familiar - his men, the places he knows, the little comforts of the barracks. And Fox.

There was just a couple of places on Kamino where noone could see you. You couldn’t stay there for too long, or someone would notice you are missing. But even ten minutes of privacy were nice. Especially when you wanted to show of something you weren’t even supposed to be able to do.

Fox burst into laughter when Cody’s expression twisted into something that somehow combined shock, awe and utter, complete confusion all at once.
“I told you!” he managed to blurt out in between gasping, wheezing howls. Cody’s face devolved slowly into pure disgust, before he firmly placed the abomination as far away as possible on the table they were sharing as he could manage.

I chose tattoos.
Smut ahead folks.
The vines and leaves trailed along his forearm, wrapping around his bicep, draping over his shoulder and hanging from his clavicle. Cody held his breath, entranced by the movement of flowers and fleeting wings of birds over Fox’s pectoral, caressing down, down with his fingers until he met the waistband of Fox’s trousers.
The tattoo continued further, but the clothing thwarted him from following it to its zenith. He couldn’t help but frown up at Fox, fingers lingering at the barrier.

I struggled with the exact backstory - i just had this very clear image in my head of Fox with torn out wings, clinging to Cody. And the magical soulmate tattoos glowing on his skin, underneath the bloody remnants of his wings. These are the Notes i made whilst thinking of the backstory for this prompt:
• Tattoo idea... something something Wing AU. Cody/Fox = mated pair.
• Palpatine tears off one (or both??) of Fox's Wings in a fit of rage (for what reason?? ➡️ Does the exact reason matter??)
• Maybe Fox failed to complete a secret/chip-activated mission for Palpatine/Sidious?? = punishment.
• Perhaps Fox tried to rebel and this is to teach him a lesson?
• Or maybe they're both captured by some as-yet unknown bad guys, and Fox was tortured??? 👀👀😈
• But! Because Fox is half of a mated pair (and *something something about mated-pairs and magic‐wings?*), a "tattoo" of sorts/soulmate-tattoo for mates/image of the wings transfers to his body when the physical wings are ripped out, to symbolise/maintain the mated link???
• draw wings on Fox's back/shoulders. Red/glowing "ink"
• Is the "tattoo" something that only the mated/other half sees? Or all brothers?

Cody was pretty sure they were told to wear their uniforms, and she didn’t mind it. She earned her rank, and she was proud of it. Of course Fox looked at rules and took them not even as a sugestion, but a checklist of what not to do.
She would be even angrier if she didn’t know Fox was all hers.

Shoreleave on Coruscant is always bittersweet for Cody.
He braces himself in the shuttle, both for the awkward shift of gravity as they descend, and for who he will face when he steps forth onto the planet this time. At least he is forewarned; the first time he had met Fox again after leaving Kamino had been a dreadful, awful shock.
This time, Stone had reached out to him when news of the Negotiator’s return broke. Thorn had been the one to warn him the time before this one, and the time before that.
Fox had never had the opportunity to do so himself. It aches something fierce in the space beneath Cody’s heart, but he has gotten good at tucking it away instead of feeling overwhelmed by the pain. He knows there is simply nothing to be done about it.
