I saw Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma!
And I loved it! It was horny and sexy and bloody and weird and beautiful. And just..as a queer person who struggles with sex and kinda lives through movies it hit so close to home. I don’t want to give away too much, but please see it in theaters if you can. I’m going to try seeing it again if it sticks around through the weekend.
I do have one critique. Because the original slasher Miasma movies were set in the 80s; some of the digital/cgi blood effects kinda bummed me out. Like why couldn’t you spring classic fake blood and bad prosthetics? I just think it would fit and look better. But otherwise it was very stylistically beautiful.
Recommend to everyone. And it’s not really horror if you’re easily scared, but there is obviously a lot about sex so probably don’t bring young children or your parents.
there is a string of towns and parks around the world, with gardens and amusements and attractions, all named after each other, all named Tivoli. in denmark the word tivoli itself means funfair and is the name of a historic theme park incorporating rides and theatrics and fairy tales
it's a site for make believe. everything in this movie is intentional
Camp Miasma really called me out as a film nerd and major bc Hannah Einbinder's character is watching the slasher movie and there's a shot with a split diopter lens and internally im like "hehe nice. split diopter shot" and then her character leans over to Gillian Anderson and goes "Split diopter :D" and then gets shushed. Then i go home and saw a tiktok where a girl was saying that the exact same thing happened to her and all this is telling me is that we need more split diopter lens usage in cinema.
my goat
Wild that Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is in theaters at the same time as the "what if straight sex was illegal" romcom, whose director said this:
“I believe it’s been a societal shift from taking nudity in adult situations and putting them on your phones at home for everybody. Now it’s more of a private, intimate thing that people don’t want to see when they’re in a shared experience. Whenever people now see nudity or very adult situations in a big theater, they get uncomfortable.”

What do you mean Gary Indiana has been without power for over a week and no news anything is covering it? What do you mean over 100000 people have been without electricity for over a week and the only news even referencing it in passing are articles about a power company vehicle being stuck by bullets?
Slum ass country.
