Hi everyone! Time for a new sticky post. Here are some important, high-level things to note about me:

  • I am mostly inactive on Tumblr. I have the Tumblr app again now, but I still just don't really use Tumblr regularly -- my dash kinda goes too fast for me to properly respond to anything, and I mainly just use this blog for self-promo. That said, please do feel to talk to me / send me an ask here -- I'll respond. But yeah, if you want to get to know me as a person, Tumblr probably isn't the best site for that (I have some alternative places at the bottom of this post).
  • Fandoms: Very many and change unpredictably. Star Trek is the main one at the moment, but I like various JRPGs (Mana, FF, KH, Bravely Default). Soulcalibur and ReBoot are some fandoms I find interesting and dabble in on Tumblr.
  • I am a proshipper. Not in the sense that I wade into fandom discourse (as I don't like it and so try to avoid it entirely) but that my opinions on fiction and fictional ships 100% aligns with the proshipper position and I avoid antis and people with anti opinions like the plague. More on what I mean by these terms below as there has been a lot of obfuscation (often purposeful) regarding these terms.

Surgery went well and I'm recovering OK, but I'm once again very constipated, which means I'm back to reading ludicrous amounts of The Two Towers in the bathroom.

I'm about 85% of the way through and am kind of tired unto death of reading about Gollum being crazy. Was glad when Faramir came in briefly to change the pace, but now Gollum is back. Help. 😭

I have uploaded the Final Fantasy X Kabuki with English subtitles, to archive!

It's split into 2 parts, at just under 3 hours each :) it's absolutely stunning and a must-see for any FFX fans!

The stream was available for purchase from July to October in 2023, and unfortunately I don't think it's possible to purchase the stream now from this site or anywhere else (I'm linking the site, just in case this happens to change at some point!). If it is available to buy in any capacity, please let me know and I'll update this post!

Voting for the FF6 Celebration 2026 has begun!

The poll didn't give me enough room to elaborate on option 3 so I shall clarify here!

Option 3 is an idea where each week of October revolves around major sections of the game. An idea from Meranie is that the first 10 days would be the World of Balance, then the Floating continent, World of Ruin and last but not least, Balance Restored!

Welcome to Mirror Week 2026!

Running from August 16th – August 22nd, Mirror Week is a creation event focused on the Star Trek mirror universe. All Star Trek series are welcome!

How it's gonna work:

  • There are three prompt lists: SFW, NSFW, and a Dark Prompts List. The SFW list is general, safe for work prompts that are Star Trek or mirror universe adjacent. The NSFW list is just that—prompts meant to inspire more explicit works. The dark list is full of prompts that fit a darker theme for those that wish to explore that side of the mirror universe.
  • These prompt lists are meant to inspire you, but you can get creative! You can take the SFW ideas and twist them into something NSFW, or vise versa. Make the dark ideas fluffy and lighthearted if the mood strikes you.
  • While following the prompts is encouraged, it is not mandatory. If you have something in mind for the mirror universe that doesn't fit with one of these prompts, go for it! It can be posted any day of the event.
  • Any form of creative work is allowed! Maybe you want to stick to the more traditional fic or art. That's totally fine! But maybe you want to make a playlist for your favorite mirror characters, or put together a cosplay, or do an edit or two. Maybe you've got a cool crochet or papercraft project in mind. Podfics, rec lists.... Any and all creative work is welcome!
  • AI generated work is not allowed.
  • Whether your focus is on the mirror characters or the world they live in, the mirror universe should be an essential part of your work. That being said, you don't have to limit yourself—if you want to include prime characters or the prime universe, you're more than welcome! Just make sure the mirror universe is important!
  • Please wait until the event begins to post your works! If you filled a certain prompt, wait until that prompt's day to post.
  • There is an open Ao3 collection for you to post your works HERE. It will remain open even after the event ends, so feel free to continue adding your projects inspired by the event! The collection will remained closed until the first day of Mirror Week.
  • Tag us so we can reblog your work! You can either tag the blog directly @mirror-events or use the tag #mirrorweek2026. This blog will continue to reblog works that fulfill prompts after the event! No matter how much time has passed, feel free to tag @mirror-events if you take inspiration from our prompt list, and your work will still be reblogged!

My partner was marveling about my ability to predict what kinds of things in fiction will cause wank in fandom and I was thinking to myself that it's actually really easy? Whenever I read/watch/etc. something where I'm like "Hm... I feel ambivalent about this plot point / I'm not sure how I feel about the way this was handled / I see the advantages of doing it this way but also the downsides" -- I just imagine how I would emotionally react to the same thing if I had vastly less emotional intelligence and voila, that is inevitably how fandom as a whole has reacted.

(This particular conversation was sparked by demons discourse in Frieren, which I was utterly unsurprised to hear about.)

I feel like so many fights in fandom stem from an inability to sit with that unsettled feeling of ambivalence and from the need to emotionally resolve something complex and uneasy into a specific reading/interpretation (reading the text with the One True Interpretation Lens) that would at least make one's emotional/moral reaction very clear, and then getting angry at everyone else who has also resolved the complicated element into something morally simple but chose a different lens with which to do that. Then they fight.

Oh man... I didn't realize Tumblr is doing age verification now too.

I've had an account here since Jan 2012. IDK, Tumblr, figure it out. Go on, take a guess at whether I'm over 18 or not.

Seriously, this might be what makes me leave Tumblr. I'm tired of this.

After many years (nearly five years), I've finally made some changes I meant to make on my Quodo manifesto. It's now 29129 words. XD I still haven't gone through all the works people have recced me but I've been able to at least add some great Quodo works I've encountered since 2021.

I'm also still collecting fanwork rec suggestions in this Google form.

Changes made in v1.1:

  • Rehosted images from Imgur to ImgBB so that they show up in the UK.
  • Fixed some factual errors I made in previous versions, namely that the Alpha Quadrant houses Bajor, not Earth and that Odo was found in a plasma belt, not an asteroid belt.
  • Added an "Exes" read of Quark and Odo to Chapter 3 (can't believe I overlooked this one!).
  • Added minor notes to the analyses of S4 E13 "Crossfire" and S5 E09 "The Ascent" in Chapter 4.
  • Added a new dynamic (#12, Mortal/immortal, or normal/superpowered) to Chapter 5.
  • Added some notes from canon about Quark's submissiveness and gender bending in Chapter 6's "Discipline and punishment" and "Genderbending" sections.
  • Added various fic, art, fanvid, and resource recs in Chapter 7. This section is still not finished (I am still working on going through older fanwork recs) but I was at least able to add some fanwork recs from the five years since I first posted this document. Also removed broken links that were unrecoverable.
  • Various minor wording fixes.

The positive side of being so constipated for weeks is that I've been burning through my bathroom book (i.e. the book I keep in my bathroom for reading while sitting on the toilet), which is currently Lord of the Rings. I managed to finish The Fellowship of the Ring and am now moving swiftly on to The Two Towers (Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are on their thrilling chase to catch up with Merry and Pippin's kidnappers lol).

So uh... followup on this... I did get my constipation checked out.

Turns out I have ovarian cancer. :(

I was going to say I might be less active on Tumblr because of this but IDK, I think it's unlikely for me to be less active on Tumblr than I am already. Probably going to be about the same level of active.

(That said, I am (as always) more active on Dreamwidth -- feel free to friend me there if you want the health updates because no way am I posting about that regularly or in detail here lol.)

Quark KiSS doll base v2

Working on new items for my Quark KiSS doll basically made me realize that my base was too complicated/elaborate and it was making it so that the rest of my items needed to be complicated/elaborate in order to visually match and this was going to kill me if I kept going like that, so I decided to scrap the base and the work I've done so far and use the lessons I learned doing my Mi-na doll to make a new base. Here's the base and a comparison to the bases of the dolls I've made so far:

I decided to go way simpler with the pose (less obstruction and layering) and the coloring style (flat colors only), and also made it smaller. I wanted to keep Quark at realistic proportions here, though. Hopefully it looks okay. And now when I make items for this doll, I hope I can drastically simplify them and they'll still look in line with the base.

SURPRISE!!! Jose Carioca KiSS doll/dress up game!!

Here's a special KiSS set I've made of one of my favorite Disney characters (if you haven't guessed that from my blog and fanart already, tee-hee :D)! I may add a little more to it at a later time, but for now I'm happy with how it looks! I wanted to make something smaller to cool down after the MONSTER project that was the Freddie Mercury KiSS doll!

If you want to play with it you'll need to download a KiSS viewer. I recommend either PlayFKiss or UltraKiss (both can be downloaded from this link and are still compatible with newer software systems!

Thank you to everyone who checked this out! I still hope I'm helping to somewhat revive KiSS dolls following the demise of Flash, I just think they're neat and fun to make! Let me know how you like it!

Thanks, @futchbrownie, for the tag! I'm just going to go with my most recent:

  1. A Trick of Light: "Riesz!" Before Hawkeye can get his warning out, the barrage of knives, expertly thrown, find their target and it seems like half a dozen hilts suddenly bloom from the edges of Riesz's torso -- at her hip, the crevice between her pauldron and her breastplate, and even her neck. (I'm just going to not count that one-word exclamation as the first sentence of this fic XD)
  2. Anniversary: They're here, they're here, they're here!
  3. one prize I'd cheat to win: The night wind whips at Odo's hair as he and Quark sit on a ledge, looking out over the city at its quietest.
  4. Misdirection: Odo's eyes darted across the screens of information, incredulous and annoyed.
  5. Maturity: Junior high is boring for Asuka.
  6. Meet Q-t: He couldn't believe the nerve of Picard -- pawning this, this woman off on him.
  7. Dance: Asuka leaps from ship to ship, each foot placed exactly where she needs it to go, managing to balance one-footed atop a bobbing vessel even though she's never in her life done that.
  8. I(?) kissed Nerys and I liked it: If there was one thing Ezri didn't need right now, it was to see another version of herself kissing another version of Colonel Kira, except that woman wasn't Colonel Kira, she was the Intendant, and Ezri didn't have feelings about it, because those were Jadzia's feelings.
  9. The Devil at the Door: Sometimes Teleya wakes with Humans on her mind -- representatives of the Planetary Union.
  10. Lightning: Kefka was glad the emperor thought he was the most suited for the initial infusion program.

This was an interesting exercise! I ended up skipping one fic because the first line was the prompt I was working off of, so I felt it wasn't particularly interesting. Also, drabbles are very much over-represented here and with that, first lines that are very intentional/over-crafted, I think.
