Art Of All Kinds And Creatures Great And Small

@bonesbugsandballads

I make art for myself and sometimes people like it.Feel free to hang out :]
🇵🇸

Hey,you can call me Bug!I use any pronouns.

I make art (writing,drawing,and poetry mainly),and I’m in a lot of fandoms!

Feel free to comment, reblog, etc,my only rules are not to use my stuff for AI or to pass it off as your own

I’ll probably post a lot of stuff about characters,so if you don’t want to bother with those ones feel free to block the tag #i speak.a little too much. if you don’t want massive paragraphs of brain dumps

I use the tag #woe a poll be upon ye for various polls I reblog/make out of boredom

#awesome art!!!!! Is the tag I use for my fav art pieces

I’m punk, queer, and disabled, and will likely make posts/art about all three of these things.

Have fun on my blog!

RP/Ask blogs (PLEASE interact I love roleplaying sm);

@olive-ishere -> rp/ask blog of my among us oc, Olive

@first-mate-tadeas-dahl -> rp/ask blog of Tadeas Dahl from TMA

@askflooftyfizzlebean -> rp/ask blog of Floofty Fizzlebean from bugsnax

Userbox dump under the cut;

Very funny alternate idea for how the bluexlimexyellowxbrown ship would happen. If lime, yellow and brown got together first and they had to combine their combined braincell and a half to figure out how to drag Blue into it, because the doctors attempts to be respectful are making it comically difficult

Still think this idea is massively funny. They have 75% of a brain cell and a shiny nickel and they need to figure out how to approach this conversation in a way where Blue won’t immediately leave because “clearly the insinuation is unintentional and I shouldn’t be reading into it”

Anyway, I just discovered it's Fat Liberation Month, and I love how the entire summer is my pride:

June: LGBTQ+ Pride Month

July: Disability Pride Month

August: Fat Liberation Month

Shout-out to my fellow fat disabled queer people!!

Ohh, so I was looking at my storage and found these! I originally shared them on twitter before yeeting the platform. Anyway, feel free to use! Art memes for your oc :D

Someone will point out the disproportionate popularity of White male characters and people will come out of the woodwork to go 'that's not racism or misogyny it's just this character is more interesting/hot/relatable' as if the very notion that White men are more interesting/hot/relatable than women or characters of colour isn't literally racism and misogyny. Thanks for proving the point!

"Disproportionate"

Wow, it's almost like the majority of fans are white people and they best relate to characters of their own race, just like you're doing.

I'm finding it immensely helpful to read books about AI, because my past grumblings of "it's bad for the environment" really pale in comparison to what I'm learning.

But im not finding it easier to talk about AI with the people in my life who use it. The evils are both enormous and complex. I cannot, on the spot and in casual conversation, recite the colonial and political history that led to entire towns in Chile being devastated by AI data centers. It is unseemly to bring up how many women have had miscarriages because of lack of access to drinking water worsened by data center usage in places like Uruguay. How racist surveillance of the public in South Africa has been used as training data for AI companies. How AI companies would not limit their use of drinking water even during Arizona's most severe drought in history. How this whole paragraph isn't even scratching the surface of what is evil about AI companies.

It's actually so much harder now to articulate my absolute hatred or to know how to approach these conversations.

EDIT: So far this year I've read, in order of quality/relevance:

  • Empire of AI by Karen Hao
  • More Everything Forever by Adam Becker
  • Enshittification by Cory Doctorow
  • More Than Words by John Warner

planning to read these next:

  • Data Empire by Roopika Risam; not sure how specifically AI-focused it will be
  • The Age of Surveillance Capitalism
  • Pollution Is Colonialism

It's been important for me to learn about AI companies more deeply because I see a lot of AI critics ask questions that reveal that they don't really understand what's going on in basic ways, and that makes me nervous about whether we're all going to be able to organize against it.

Example: In response to an article about Sam Altman asking Congress to regulate AI, I saw a lot of comments like, "What, even HE doesn't think his own company can get its shit together?! He's that desperate for outside help?"

And that's not what's going on. Sam Altman talks to Congress because he's directing the conversation around AI concerns. He wants laws passed that make it harder for other companies, especially Chinese companies, to compete with OpenAI. He wants us all to be worried about theoretical future AI models triggering apocalyptic scifi scenarios because that kind of panic distracts us from tackling the problems that are actually happening now, like extreme surveillance, water shortages, destruction of land, and abuse of workers.

Anyway, even if you hate AI—especially if you hate AI—it's important to learn about what's happening.

i'm so fucking over it

they didnt listen, by the way. because of course they didnt. theyre hiding domo ai from the member list and forcing them into private and public servers. use

/ban user:1153984868804468756

to get rid of it.

if you're interested in the Colorful support post i made regarding this, its under the cut. i'm livid.

adding this to the list… 🫩 5. 5 bots you have to fucking ban from discord that they added without your permission. What the absolute fuck.

You’re welcome

This is the most useful thing I’ve ever reblogged.

i used to think when people said my cousin twice removed that their cousin must’ve did some fucked up shit to get kicked out of the family twice

extra note: if you come across the expression cousin-german in pre-20th century english literature, it just means “first cousin”

Reblogging again because there are a couple of other things to note about family terms when you’re looking at pre-C20th literature. (This goes from about the C16th onwards - not read enough 14-15th century stuff to know what it does there.) Coz, or cousin, can just mean “close family member”. If you read Shakespeare, you’ll see people use it for their siblings, as well as their literal cousins, probably also uncles etc. close in age. Similarly uncle or aunt may be used for people who are technically cousins but are the same age as the speaker’s parents. Most confusingly, because of Christian marriage vows at the time, since you were effectively becoming “one flesh” with your spouse, and part of the husband’s family in a legal sense, you will find women addressing their husband’s family will often use the term their husband would use, so they’d call their husband’s brother “brother”, rather than “brother-in-law”, similarly for mothers, fathers, and of course cousins. (This is usually gendered - the man isn’t considered in most western European countries of the time to be part of the woman’s family in quite the same way, but you will sometimes see a man use “father” where as a modern reader you’d expect “father-in-law”. It’s also not done all the time - sometimes the “in-law” relationship will be emphasised - in literature, of course, these decisions may be giving you clues about the familial relationships and how much people like each other!) Also then the woman who’s married in to the family will often be called “daughter” by the man’s parents. (Sorry this bit is so binary gendered - but that’s to do with how marriage was defined at the time, and what you’re most likely to find when encountering the literature of the period.) This is brought to you by being confused by some of this. “Coz” is fine - it’s almost like “pal, but pal that’s family”. It’s when you’re reading or watching some very complicated Shakespeare history play where the dynastic relations are really important, and someone says, “My daughter” and you’re like, “wait, what, is that incest? I thought so-and-so was her father??? oh…….”

ok kids repeat after me

be careful about your cleaning products and dont get yourself injured or potentially killed ok

why it so dangerous to be clean

As someone who’s job is to handle chemicals like this, I need to state that this information is IMPORTANT. Plenty of people have accidentally injured or killed themselves at home because they didn’t know what kind of reaction certain substances have with one another. Play it safe and don’t mix chemicals.

Also don’t use bleach to clean up urine it’ll create chloramine bc of the ammonia in it and you can give yourself chemical pnemonia that way

Every time I see “helpful” posts telling people to mix these things while cleaning I cringe with my entire body.

reblogging in this time of heightened interest in disinfectants. please don’t get fancy

Pick one. Stick with that one
