If I had to sum up my novel’s plot in one sentence it would be: what if the story of the classic hero was seen through the eyes of their deuteragonist?

I sometimes hope that my writing doesn’t make someone go “oh, this was written by X gender”
One of the goal when it comes to my writing is so that it does not point to me (weird wording, I know). I, as an author, should be able to produce a work that depicts characters separate from myself. Characters that feel real, not personas of mine.
To depict characters with empathy and care, regardless of their gender, but while respecting their gendered perspectives and reality. That’s a goal of mine.

I think I’ve managed that so far, but I have to be extremely careful the longer the story goes on. Careful to not fall victim of my own ignorance, to be precise and respectful of my characters.
They are more than characters, they are representations of how I see people.
A mistake with them means I am mistaken.
I will forever respect my characters. I will always adore and cherish them. They are made up of parts of me AND of parts of the people I see.
Every character deserves respect.

I actually finished the second draft of Volume 1. Never thought I’d see the day. I thought it was truly over after 6 months of being burnt out and not writing, only to come back and finish it up in a month. There’s no greater feeling than this.
