Ted Lasso once said, “it’s about helping young people be the best versions of themselves, on and off the field.”
And then he drove by our Children’s Mercy Research Institute right there in the closing moments of this season’s premiere.
We believe, too, Ted. 💙
Thank you for helping our lights (aka symbols of kids' real-life DNA sequences!) shine a little farther.

“Be curious, not judgmental.” ⚽💙
So here’s a question: What’s it like to go from managing Type 1 diabetes to appearing as an extra on the new season of TedLasso?
Meet Jakob, a 17-year-old from Kansas who’s doing just that. With support from his family, diabetes technology and his Children’s Mercy Wichita care team, he’s proving that diabetes doesn’t have to keep you from chasing big dreams.

Jakob and his mom are standing together, smiling at the camera. Jakob is wearing black jeans, a brown sweatshirt and glasses. He has his arm around his mom, who is wearing jeans and a teal sweatshirt. The flint hills are visible in the background.
A person wearing headphones and a microphone is seated in an aircraft cockpit, pointing outside. Another airplane is visible in the sky through the window. The person appears excited. The landscape below is rural and expansive.

A person with a yellow backpack walks up steps towards a building. The image features text: "New school? Swipe for tips to help your kids adjust." The logo "parent-ish" is at the bottom.
Blue background with text: "Fact: Kids thrive on predictability. A new school means new routines, new people and new expectations, which can feel overwhelming at first." The word "parent-ish" at the bottom.
Image with blue background and the title "Watch for these signs" in yellow text. Below, a list of indicators suggests a child may be struggling if they: seem quieter than usual, don't want to leave home, have trouble sleeping, complain of stomachaches, or show signs of anxiety. The logo "parent-ish" is at the bottom.
The image is a graphic with a blue background and text that provides a checklist for preparing before the first day of school: "Visit the school," "Attend orientation," "Meet a teacher or staff member," "Practice the daily routine," and "Set bedtime a few weeks early," each with a checkmark. The word "parent•ish" is at the bottom.
Routine equals confidence. The image lists suggestions: pick tomorrow's outfit, pack the backpack, create a morning schedule. Caption reads: "Small choices help kids feel more control." The text is by parent-ish.
A blue background with the text: "One friend can make a big difference." Below, it lists opportunities to connect: "School activities, Community events, Neighborhood play, New hobbies and interests." The word "parent-ish" is at the bottom.
