Hyper-scale data centers are overloading our energy grid, raising consumer utility costs, using tons of water, and polluting our air. My bill with AM didibarrett106, the Responsible Data Center Development Act (S.10642), looks to address these issues, starting with implementing a one-year moratorium on new permits for facilities with peak loads of over 20 Megawatts.

Yesterday I rallied with FWWNY and advocates to call for a moratorium on new data centers to give NY time to address the economic, environmental, and energy impacts of data centers on our communities. I introduced the Responsible Data Center Development Act (S10642) with AM didi to address these concerns and create a plan for our energy future that protects our environment and represents everyday people over big tech billionaires.
