Hello Threads! Most of you follow me for kids' crafts and food 🥳 but I’ve also been a serial entrepreneur for 25+ yrs. I’ve built retail stores, ecommerce, print-on-demand, Etsy shops, multiple blogs, authored books, and sold in big-box retail (recently Walmart). But nothing has fueled my passion more than being a content creator for 10+ years and helping others win at social media. I'll be solely sharing business and social media tips here. Mama entrepreneurs and creators—let’s connect! 🩷

I know someone’s going to ask…recipe I used is Sally’s Baking but with significant changes: sallysbakingaddiction.com/blueb…
- used melted butter instead of softened - zero sugar Greek yogurt bc that’s what I had - almond milk instead of regular - changed the toppings (because my kids don’t like nuts) to a sprinkle of cinnamon and raw sugar on top - added zest of one orange (because I didn’t have lemons - even though the recipe didn’t call for them 😅)

I also used half regular all-purpose flour and half bread flour because I like my muffins more dense and chewy. This will result in higher domed tops.
@kingarthurbaking
flour of course :)

Here’s your proof of the K-shaped economy.
The majority of people are struggling to pay for groceries and gas while San Francisco experiences one of the best real estate markets in years from AI tech companies.
One home sold 1MM above $4MM asking.
In contrast there are now more home sellers than buyers, the first time in over a decade.
The middle is gettting squeezed. All we will have left are the working poor and an elite upper class detached from reality.

I’m seeing a lot of chatter about the “yapping” creator who had a 1.2MM launch. Honestly good for her to take a skill and monetize it to a target audience that’s wiling to pay.
One thing I’ll add is that there’s a tendency in content creating to jump on the next trend. But what does well for someone else may not necessarily be the case for you.
For example when TikTok burst onto the scenes and reels launched soon after, everyone was pivoting their faceless “hands over pan” content.

To start showing faces especially in the niches I’m in, DIY and food. It was tempting because that was the trend back in 2021-2023. I tried it and hated it. I knew I was more comfortable behind the scenes, so I doubled down on on that and it was the best decision. For ME. It protected my peace because I never wanted to be front and center. I wanted my content alone to speak for itself.

Back then, many of my creator friends went all in on face forward videos. Some loved it, but some were clearly uncomfortable doing it. Years later, a few confided in me they wished they had never started.
Because it was never who they were. Several pivoted back to being faceless. Not just faceless reels, but photos, and carousels.
The thing is “yapping” or face forward videos are just one way to deliver content. There are dozens of ways to deliver content meaningfully to a specific audience.

The beauty of content creating is being inspired by many doing it well, but also finding your own style and owning that.
If you’re a new creator, it’s easy to go for the shiny new thing. But ultimately YOU know yourself best. If you’re tempted to try something because it’s working well for others, remember to ask yourself:
- Will it feel natural to me? - Will it drain my energy? - Why do I want to do this? - Can I be consistent with this format? - Does this fit my current lifestyle?
