The CLT Aviation Internship Program provides both educational and on-the-job experience in various technician roles across the Airport. Gaivin Smith, John Scarlett and Edwin Alfaro are current apprentices within their respective fields.

To us at CLT, May 23 is more than a date - it's a designation.

Runway 05/23 was part of CLT’s original airfield layout, in place long before the parallel runway system took shape. It served the Airport for decades before being officially decommissioned Feb. 2025. Today, it remains in use as Taxiway J (Juliet) and supports airfield efficiency.

This photo dates back to 2016 when Runway 05/23 was in regular use.
