Article on Wikipedia Yuri Kozukata

Yuri Kozukata (不来方夕莉, Kozukata Yuri) is a character from the Fatal Frame series. She is the central protagonist of the fifth game in the series, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

OriginEdit

The Camera Obscura's Viewfinder in Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

Yuri is the central protagonist of Maiden of Black Water, the fifth main entry in the Fatal Frame franchise. She's a 19-year-old woman who survived a car accident that killed her whole family; because of the accident, she developed a "Sixth Sense." This ability allows her to see ghosts. Throughout the game, she helps the other protagonists in solving strange cases around Mt. Hikami, a notoriously haunted location in the outskirts of Japan. Yuri is led to Mt. Hikami by her sixth sense and travels around the area, taking photographs of spirits with her Camera Obscura, a specialized camera that can take photographs and exorcise ghosts.

While the Camera Obscura's crosshair is based on the one that appears on the Wii U's GamePad or on the screen (depending on the set control scheme) and the ghostly wails are loosely based on the sound effects ghosts play when damaged in Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, the grainy effects and inverted colors seem to only be referencing her home series' status as a camera-oriented horror game.

The background image is sourced from the game's prologue drop, specifically the image displayed before the drop begins.

In Super Smash Bros. UltimateEdit

As an Assist TrophyEdit

The protagonist of the Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water game is now an assist trophy. If she gets you with her Camera Obscura you'll be paralyzed for a short time, so watch out!

Yuri appears as an Assist Trophy in Ultimate. When summoned, the current music volume is halved, Yuri says "なに?" (What?), the line being reused from Maiden of Black Water, and pulls out her Camera Obscura. The stage then darkens with an intense film grain as the Viewfinder reticle homes in on an opponent. When a target is locked onto, Yuri takes a picture, causing the screen to flash and slow dramatically and a unique sound effect plays, again sourced from Maiden of Black Water. The camera flash deals 14% damage, briefly stuns any opponents caught within the Viewfinder for 150 frames, and causes them to take 2% poison damage every 60 frames for 780 frames total. If a fighter is within the Viewfinder, they can avoid the Camera Obscura's effects by shielding during the camera flash. Yuri disappears after taking three photographs.

The Viewfinder will spend between 90 to 120 frames randomly moving before choosing a fighter to take a picture of. After focusing on a fighter, the Viewfinder will wait between 1 to 30 frames before taking a picture.

The following stages are considered "dark stages" and won't be darkened as much compared to other stages:

Yuri has a spawn chance of 38/2086. She cannot be summoned on the following stages in a standard versus match (applies only to the base form unless noted otherwise):

Yuri cannot be summoned if the following items are active and vice versa:

SpiritEdit

Yuri appears as one of the game's collectible spirits. In her Spirit Battle, she appears as an Assist Trophy while Zelda acts as her puppet fighter.
