Tournament summaryEdit

Super Smash Bros. MeleeEdit

Half of the event's top 8 seeds were able to make it into top 8, those being the first three seeds (Zain, Cody Schwab, and Hungrybox, respectively) and the 6th seed, Jmook. Conversely, two of the top 8 seeds drastically underperformed to place 17th, with #4 seed Mang0 losing to #13 seed Aura 1-3 (upset factor 4) and #23 seed Zuppy 0-3 and #5 seed moky losing to #28 seed Graves 2-3 (upset factor 5) and #13 seed Soonsay 1-3 (upset factor 3). The two remaining top 8 seeds finished 13th: #7 seed Wizzrobe lost to #10 seed aMSa 2-3 and Soonsay 2-3 while #8 seed Joshman lost to #9 seed Axe 2-3 and #16 seed n0ne 2-3.

Conversely, this event marked a notable performance from Aura, who after defeating Mang0 was able to punch his way into top 8 Winners side by defeating Spark 3-0. Chilean Young Link player Rocket made a notable run to 17th to match his seed, becoming the first solo-Young Link player to place in the top 32 at a major, let alone supermajor.

Top 8 ultimately ran mostly as planned, with Zain and Cody Schwab facing off against each other in both Winners Finals and Grand Finals, the first time the two had played each other since Riptide 2024. Zain ultimately came out on top, defeating Cody Schwab 3-1 in Winners Finals, then 3-0 in Grand Finals, to win his first major/supermajor tournament since Luminosity Makes Moves Miami 2024.

Super Smash Bros. UltimateEdit

This tournament featured enough top international talent to be considered a supermajor (being an S+ tier on the Lumirank 2025), featuring 8 of the top 10 LumiRank 2024.2 ranked players (except for Sonix and Asimo). Battle of BC 7 also marked the return of Fatality to full-time competitive Smash, having previously been retired for a year and a half.

This event was known for Japan's performance, which was initially incredibly dominant. In addition to decisively winning the Japan vs The World crew battle with 6 whole stocks left, Japan notably won every single set where they fought a non-Japanese player in the top 64 brackets save for #17 seed KEN's set against #16 seed Kola and #19 seed Ryuoh's set against #3 seed Sparg0. These victories include three reverse 3-0s that took place within an hour: #18 seed Raki over #15 seed Pocket, #22 seed Toriguri over #11 seed Zomba, and Ryuoh over #14 seed ShinyMark. However, their fortunes were reversed in top 24 onward, as Japanese players preceded to lose every single set where they played against international opponents (0-13). This included #1 seed Hurt losing to #8 seed Syrup's Ness 1-3 (upset factor 5) and #4 seed Miya losing to #12 seed Glutonny 2-3 (upset factor 3); both players ended up placing 9th, alongside #6 seed Shuton, who lost to Sparg0 0-3 and Pocket 1-3 (upset factor 3) and #10 seed Raru, losing to #2 seed acola 1-3 and Zomba 1-3. The only Japanese player to make top 8 was acola, and even then he ultimately fell to Sparg0 — losing their runback from Kowloon 12 with Kagaribi — and #24 seed Ouch!? (upset factor 7) to place 5th, marking the first time acola had ever placed 5th in an open bracket offline event. With these finishes, many consider Battle of BC 7 as one of the worst Japanese performances in Ultimate and their worst performance at a North American major/supermajor since Mainstage 2022. Due to their underperformances, this was notably the first time where another Mr. Game & Watch and Steve player outperformed both Miya and acola at the same tournament, respectively. In addition, with Hurt's self-imposed two-month ban which began after Battle of BC 7, his underwhelming performance at the event seemingly ended his chances for the #1 position for the half-year season.

Outside of Japan, several other top players also fell short. #5 seed Tweek was eliminated at 17th after losing to Glutonny and Pocket (upset factor 3) while #7 seed Light was eliminated at 13th after losing to Raru and #28 seed Monte (upset factor 4); as such, only #2 seed acola, #3 seed Sparg0, and #8 seed Syrup made it into top 8, each coming in through Winner's. In addition, after losing to Syrup, #9 seed MkLeo met one of his bracket demons, ShinyMark, in the Losers bracket, and ultimately lost 0-3, SDing on the final stock, landing him at 17th as well.

Conversely, the event also featured multiple notable runs from lower-seeded players. #28 seed Monte was the lowest-seeded player to enter top 8; after losing to Tweek 2-3, he defeated Riddles 3-1, Raki 3-1, Light 3-1, and Hurt (upset factor 9, the biggest of the tournament) 3-2 before falling to Ouch!? 1-3 en route to 7th, his first top 8 at a supermajor. Ouch!?, who was seeded 24th, had an arguably greater run at the event. Like multiple previous Battle of BC events, Ouch!? would claw his way into top 8 after losing to MkLeo 2-3, defeating MKBigBoss 3-0, Ryuoh 3-2, Toriguri 3-2, Miya 3-1, the aforementioned Monte 3-1, and acola 3-2, before finally being stopped by Syrup 2-3 to place 4th; many players lauded Ouch!?'s cinderella run, as it not only involved Ouch!? defeating two of Japan's best players, but it was also performed with Wolf, a character that had been on the decline in the metagame within the last few years.

Perhaps the most notable run, however, came from #12 seed Glutonny. Coming off of a slump season, he entered top 8 after defeating Miya, before defeating Syrup 3-1. He then faced Sparg0, who was fighting to keep his #1 spot after failing to win a major since Luminosity Makes BIG Moves 2025 in January. Though up 2 games, Sparg0 was able to bring it to a game 5, last stock situation, which Glutonny was able to win (upset factor 4). After Sparg0 defeated Syrup in Losers Finals 3-1, avenging his loss to Syrup at Cavalier Clash 6, Sparg0 reset the bracket on Glutonny in a 3-2 set. However, Glutonny was able to hold on and won the reset 3-0, marking his first A tier and higher victory since Regen 2024, his first major victory since UltCore Second, and his first supermajor victory since Tera. With Glutonny's victory, his wins over three players who had just defeated him in their most recent sets, and Glutonny defeating three difficult matchups back-to-back, this event was highlighted as Glutonny's "revenge tour", especially because of his slump throughout 2024 and his underperformance at the previous Battle of BC event.
