Is there anyone confidant to say that there Ai generated novel is good.

#1
We all hate Ai generated novel. I hate them too. I really really hate them.

In my life I have never found any Ai generated novel that is anywhere near readable. But the think is I believe there will be at least one Ai generated novel will be good.

So I am writing forum for you to recommend you Ai generated novel. I am going to read it and if it is good I will give you a good review.

Note: I personally don't use Ai to write my novel. I believe it ruins my novel, but let's check yous one.

It doesn't matter if it's a good read or not. It is not human, and therefore will never have the same value as real art.

I've read some bad novels on Royalroad, and a lot of flawed ones. And regardless of the flaws and the messiness, I believe they are beautiful because they are an expression of the human desire to create and share art.

So no. Don't read the slop. Just read actual stuff made by people.

The experience I have is that there is at least some underlying meaning even when the text breaks down for various reasons (narrative, choppy word-flow, stream of consiousness stuff) but when I was porting the Immaterial Contest to html format and posting it on my site, I used the same code editor that I use while programming. That is, VScode and it has Copilot built in for whatever corporate greed reason. Needless to say, as I was copy pasting blocks of text it kept "suggesting" next lines which initially appeared as quite relevant.

From that little experience I found it very very very grounding to the point that it leveled and made the text flat in a sense. In more poetic words, it kind of drained the magic out of the story. Sentence by sentence that it suggested it felt very formulaic and of course in many places just outright wrong.

I think a story always has some flow. Whether that is surface level (things happening) or some symbolism crawling in the narrative or just idle passage of time there is always something a human writes that makes sense if you take your time through it. Now considering a text edited this way? I don't know man, sounds like a lot like the machine technically tries to see what fits next while wholy disregarding such other ways to bind the text and flow.

Needless to say I haven't used AI since, I barelly use it when programming anyways. Writing is also fun, why delegate that to a machine lol.

Well i believe in good story. and if a Ai generated book is good that means the author did a hard work editing and writing a good prompt [I don't if that is even possible]. Sice Ai is really bad at remembering plot and writing story. So if there is any Ai generated story that calms it is good and i found out it is good, that has to mean the author reall worked hard on it. [oh I said the same things twice]. and this is the reason for this thread

I will give it a couple of years before Dostoevsky level stories could be made. God level prose, bleeding edge progression fantasy + 500 chapters / day the future will be incredible!
Come to think of it, there is a fun comparison of Beethovens 10th assembled from sketches which might not even be meant for it by an expert v1 and done by experts with AI (very long ago, wish someone would attempt it with the way better current models) v2 ā€“ and at least here it seems perfectly passable but also pretty obviously inferior if one just listened to more of his works and noticed how derivative it is.

And seems it's bound to remain the issue. Even if AI will manage to accurately emulate Freddy's prose through a whole work and avoid its usual flaws, it'd be too close to what already was done – functional enough to be enjoyable for most but very unlikely to push the art forward.

In my case, I use AI for editing purposes only.
The story itself is fully mine: the characters, world, structure, themes, plot, and ending all come from me. Since English is not my first language, the editing part can be very challenging, so I use AI to help correct and smooth the language while keeping the voices of my characters consistent.
That said, it does not make the work effortless. On multiple occasions, I have seen AI drift away from the script I wrote, add details I did not ask for, or change the meaning of a scene. Because of that, I still have to review everything carefully and make sure the final version matches my intent.

It is a good discussion

I use AI to create character cards.

It's really convenient. For example, I can have it list ten names for you,

and then you can choose or combine them.

Or, if you're stuck on a story point, you can talk to it. Several times I've found inspiration through conversations with AI.

This is my understanding and use of AI.

This behavior is called "using AI to generate articles"??

I don't think so.

I think you are doing the right use of ai insted of misusing it to writing story

This is Ai-assisted, not generated. But I spent a few hundred hours with claude reasoning about my story, helping create names, debating story structure, discussing character motivations, doing research etc.

I think most of the people confuse AI assisted with AI generated novel and that is what makes me think we don“t get a so many views in our novels. I think many or at least a good part, use AI these days to help cleaning, organizing, translating or adding elements to their story, but all the context, ideas and the progress in our stories are still made by us, humans.

Oh boy. This entire thread is gonna just be anti-AI people just blathering about how AI is the death of art/isn't real/is not good/slop!!!/etc isn't it?

It's hilarious that tons of people say that they wouldn't be caught dead reading AI assisted stories, yet in the same breath say all AI stories can never be good even after admitting never reading any.

As someone who uses AI to help write my stories, I just have to laugh at the sheer absurdity of the purists shaking their fists at me, decrying that I dare use the newest technological tool available to me. Just more soon to be extinct dinosaurs who can't handle the changing times.

Thankfully, most of those frothing at the mouth aren't readers, just p'd off writers who like blaming the AI boogeyman for their lack of readers. Readers, in my experience, only care about reading good stories that entertain them. They don't care what tools the author uses to give them that story. As a bonus, these AI assisted/generated stories have little to no grammar/syntax/spelling errors, so they're very readable, unlike the many "100% human made" slop that fills RR.

At the same time, they can struggle with repetitive sentence structure if the author wasn't careful; and I'd pick typos over that.

Like, generally I agree with your points and specially the focus on "what" instead of "how it was accomplished" but my skepticism comes from including the clanker into the work-flow and generally experimenting with it for a bit. It's a super cool tool, specially more experienced writers would benefit from if they embraced it for the positives but it's also incredibly inefficient for the writing part of the task that needs constant oversight and prompt tweaking to a point, it'd be easier to do the job yourself.

Future models might make the context window and basic output less of a pain but I'd be seriously surprised if it'd managed to keep up with writers who are doing something more complex than writing by numbers. Specially anytime soon (5-10 years).
