Quote:Kings and Witches: Book I of the Mistress of the Wastes trilogy

When an explorer vanishes in the frozen north, only a cryptic letter is left behind.

Years later, that letter falls into the hands of two girls born in the same village, but worlds apart. They are Miralen, Lord's daughter, gifted with rare magical talents and a supportive tutor, and Tilani, granddaughter of a feared hedge-witch, who learns her craft through hardship and cruelty.

As the girls come of age, their rivalry grows, kings maneuver toward war, old alliances crumble, and clues hidden in a dead man's final message point toward a secret buried since the ancient Devastation.

Kings and Witches is an epic fantasy of ambition, magic, friendship, sacrifice, and choices that shape kingdoms.

New chapters coming thrice a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I hope you will enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Chapter 12: "The Turbulent Years" is now out.

As Miralen and Tilani grow older, their paths converge in unexpected ways. Meanwhile, Eunicia discovers teaching magic may be easier than teaching etiquette.

If you ever think your plot idea is cliche, remember that someone had the idea to remake Hamlet as a cartoon with talking animals, and it became one of the most beloved films of all time.

The story of a bottom feeder teenage boy, Isekaid to another world, in another body, making stupid decisions, while a devious whisperer aims to control him by psychological warfare.

Would he remain a bottom feeder, underdog to the whisperer, helpless to the monstrosities that craves his flesh, and a slave to the fate of suffering?

It would be a mountain to cross. But he has to try crossing it regardless.

Hello I'm Frida or Furipon!
I'm completely new to Royal Road and trying to get to know some of you, find readers who'd like the same type of stories as me etc!  DrakanWine

BEARDAUGHTER: and the Road to Cora:

Twenty years ago they hanged Tryggve Beardaughter for a queen's murder he never committed. A god pulled him back down the rope and called it a blessing.
Tryggve calls it a great many things, most of them unprintable. Now he walks the long road to Cora with a stolen sword, a woman wearing a dead woman's face, and a prophecy that names him Destroyer of kingless halls.
He intends to ignore all three. What he cannot ignore is the man waiting at the road's end: Dareth Oakenshield, Seer of the Magistracy, the boy he once adored,
and the only witness at his execution who said nothing at all. Tryggve wants an apology. Or absolution. Or Dareth on his knees.
He hasn't decided which, and frankly the suspense is the only thing keeping him alive. Well. That, and the immortality.
A dark fantasy of powder-smoke and blood magic, where demons wear borrowed faces, gods collect their debts,
and the deadliest thing on the road is a man determined to prove he's lovable.

I'm not writing a book for everyone. It's not an isekai or litRPG but a classic fantasy road trip. Very Character driven.
The story's been in the works for 12+ years and I take great pride in my storytelling and character work. I do all the art myself as well. So hope you wanna give it a read!
Themes include: immortality, shapeshifting, insanity, identity. But it's not just doom and gloom but kinda funny too! Love writing comedy / tragedy mashups 🥹

I'm a professional artist and I like to draw semi realistic inspired by historical paintings. I'm also active on Tapas!

When the Demon King Malgrin threatens to consume the world, three unlikely heroes must overcome their greatest weaknesses to stand against the darkness.
🗡️Theron, a defensive knight from Valdoria, is haunted by his inability to save his beloved mentor, Sir Kaelron, who fell to the corrupted blade of Vorash—once their brother-in-arms, now the Demon King's most feared general. Desperate to learn healing magic despite having zero magical power, Theron abandons his homeland and seeks training in the priestly kingdom of Seraphiel. There, he discovers that true healing requires the ultimate sacrifice: converting his own life force into magical energy through the deadly "Life Flow" technique.
🧙‍♂️Meanwhile, Rune, the timid son of Azarion's Great Fire Mage, flees his legacy of destructive magic to master the art of protection. Haunted by past failures where his uncontrolled power endangered innocent lives, he learns the "Mirror Shield"—a technique that reflects enemies' attacks back upon themselves while keeping his gentle nature intact.
🏹Princess Elara of Seraphiel, masquerading as a common archer, becomes the bridge between kingdoms as corruption spreads through political alliances. As the sole heir capable of casting the legendary resurrection spell, she must choose between reviving fallen friends or preserving hope for the future.
When Valdoria's king falls under demonic influence, former allies become enemies in a war that tears at the bonds of brotherhood and honor. As Malgrin's forces—led by the theatrical air demon Zephiron and the cunning sea witch Corusca—close in on all kingdoms, the three heroes must unite their unconventional powers: sacrifice, reflection, and redemption.
In a world where traditional strength fails, they must prove that gentleness can triumph over brutality, that defense can overcome offense, and that the greatest magic of all lies in the courage to protect what matters most—even at the cost of everything they hold dear.
The fate of the world rests not in the hands of the mighty, but in the hearts of those who choose compassion over conquest.

Isobel Vane is the finest translator of dead languages alive, and officially she doesn't exist. Her guild takes her work, and publishes it under other men's names. They will never seat her, because she is the Master's daughter, and a daughter is all the house permits her to be.
The year of the golden dragon is approaching. With it, the storm keeping two continents apart dies. In this one year, her gift with languages makes her unignorable, one of the most important people on her coast. Spice, Silk, Ideas and diseases all flow over on merchant ships. In this storm, the printing press comes too. Heretical words and a stamped book, which will inevitably lead to a revolution no individual can stop.

What to expect: epic fantasy of the printing-press moment. A protestant Reformation with real magic underneath it. The magic system runs on historical linguistics: reconstruct the dead parent language from its surviving branches. Historically, this is based on the real diffusion of languages and the reconstruction of Proto-Indo-European. Politics, love, trade, merchants, and a church that owns the economy and the calendar. Memorable characters, love triangles, soft moments, and a slow burn, unstoppable tragedy.

It was the worst trap in the history of dungeons.

It was my finest work.

Iris Vale ran the best inn on the mountain for eleven years.

Then the roof came down in a hard winter, and she woke up dead.

Now she is a glowing crystal at the heart of a dungeon, with a cheerful System box congratulating her on her new and only purpose:

Kill anyone who walks in.

Iris has other plans.

No hands. No kitchen. Four mana she does not trust. One starving boy at the bottom of her only working death-trap. And a System that has absolutely no schedule of rates for feeding the people it sent her to harvest.

So she opens an inn anyway.

Under protest.

The protest is the System’s.

What grows from there is the warmest house at the top of the world: a tearoom where a spike pit used to be, a bone barista who pours a perfect cup, one extremely unimpressed cat who appoints himself Head Concierge, and a slow, stubborn rebellion built entirely out of refusing to do what you are told.

The Bureau gives Iris thirty days to prove a dungeon that will not kill is even legal.

The mountain has other ideas.

The No-Kill Dungeon is a cozy dungeon-core LitRPG about hospitality, stubbornness, found family, and keeping the fire lit against the dark.

Cozy, not toothless.

Warm, but the rent comes due.

What you are getting:

- A reluctant dungeon core who would rather run an inn

- Found family of the undead, the small, and the judgmental

- Cozy slice-of-life with a light progression system

- No stat-grinding, no grimdark, no gore, no spice

- A bureaucracy that cannot file kindness

- One cat with Opinions

Bring a mug.

The ship shuddered as if struck by lightning. The deck lurched violently, masts rattled, and pieces of rigging and torn sails began raining down. A swirling vortex of ash-gray smoke and molten crimson billowed from the forward castle, twisting and curling like a beast awakening from slumber.
From within the vortex, a towering silhouette took shape—a nightmare forged of fire and shadow. Horns curled from its skull like blackened branches, and eyes like glowing coals pierced the darkness as malevolent laughter drowned out every other sound. Its skin flickered with burning rage, veins of molten fire snaking beneath charred, scarred flesh. The creature rose to five times Big John’s height, a mountain of flame and shadow shrouded in a deathly crimson glow.
Even Repee trembled. The creature’s ascent sent waves of oppressive heat rippling across the deck, scorching the air and making the wooden planks groan under unseen pressure. Its form stretched toward the dark sky, massive as the ship’s mainmast. The adventurers stared, frozen and trembling, as hope was torn from their hearts before a nightmare born of ash and fire.
For what felt like an eternity, the creature’s blazing eyes inspected each adventurer, probing into their souls.

Sulfur & Steel is ultimately a story about whether people can overcome their origins and the consequences of who they have become. Every major character carries expectations, flaws, or beliefs that constantly place them at odds with one another, and their greatest battles are often internal rather than external.
Although the novel features monsters, magic, the darkest side of humanity, and dangerous journeys, those elements exist to explore themes of redemption, ambition, prejudice, trust, sacrifice, and the difficult choice between survival and morality. The protagonist herself is a half-succubus assassin, a literal monster, yet the story continually asks whether humanity is defined by birth, by actions, or by the choices we make when no option is truly good.
If you enjoy slow-burn character development, morally and psychologically complex protagonists, meaningful relationships that evolve over time, and a vast fantasy world where actions have lasting consequences, you will find a story that values emotional payoff as much as adventure.

Hex and Venom is Tower Ascension story about a boy named Kenny who wanted to get away from his current life at home. After years of being mentally abused by his stepmother and having to clean up after his half siblings' messes he finally got his shot at taking on the Trial Grounds, the key to entering the Tower. The catch? He missed two out of the seven days to complete the trial grounds and has to go at it alone.

That is until he meets a girl name Val who was abandoned by her team because they believed her Slow Debuff was worthless. Together these two take on the challenges before them as they learn how to become a team that can trust each other and gain more confidence in themselves. However, will that be enough to make it to the end and also awaken the last two of their Skill Trees before having to face the final Trial Grounds Boss?

The Protean Artificer is a story about a man named Artemus who had walked in on his wife confessing about betraying her husband. Before he could confront her he is taken away to be a part of a Trial Run, a Tradition the system does for newly integrated planets before throwing each planet into the chaos of the Multiverse. There he finds out he barely made it into this Trial Run thanks to some changes the System made at the last second. His rank? Third from the bottom of the last group of people taken for this event.

He is given the class Artificer, a crafter style class with some versatility depending on what Focus he chooses. However, after seeing how bad his starting stats are, he has to put a lot of work to change that just to make it to the starting line before the second phase begins. If that wasn't the only problem, it seems the sassy system that keeps making fun of him is also using him as a Guinea Pig for an experiment, forcing him to take on a Focus no one has seen before, Protean. A Focus that is forcing him to learn all roles (Attacker, Defender, Healer, Support, and Crafter). That would be a major issue if not for the Multitasker Skill he received when arriving.

With the help of his unfriendly Trial Runner Assistant, who keeps getting his race mixed up with another, he'll have to get everything in order just to survive. Afterall, its not just the monsters in the dungeon he has to worry about. Its also the people and races looking to get ahead and become number one in the Trial Run.

Furukawa Chie, an autistic girl who works as a cook in the family business, has no greater concern than satisfying her demanding father's matchmaking expectations. However, everything changes when the restaurant catches fire and collapses over an unfortunate member of the Shinsengumi, rendering him disabled for life as payment for attempting to save her life.

Tani Sanjuro, a young man as impertinent and smug as he's skilled with the spear, becomes (to the annoyance of many and the delight of few) the captain of the Shinsengumi's 7th division. But the danger of his appointment doesn't stem from his clear contempt for the peasant class, but rather from the fickle plans of whoever is pulling the strings that determine his fate.

Furukawa Kohana, a maiko from Shimabara who longs to flee the city and return to the lush meadows where she was born, sees her hopes dashed when the ruthless Shinsengumi puts a crushing end to her dreams of freedom. The Shogunate's sentence, however, pales in comparison to the obstacle posed by the whirlwind of intrigue that her non-human nature will unleash.

👺The Plot in 50 Words: The future of nineteenth-century Japan depends on an autistic girl uncovering the mass magical brainwashing where supernatural creatures replaced her real childhood friend with the fallen prince of their species, all to cause the butterfly effect that triggered the historic Boshin Civil War.

✍100% Human Production: No AI generators were used in either the art or the writing; unless otherwise specified, I am the artist who drew the cover and accompanying illustrations for this work.

💡Help for fandom-blind readers: If you're unfamiliar with "Hakuouki", the fic includes indexes of original and canon characters. There are also clarifications about the nature of the samurai group "Shinsengumi" and the historical and sociopolitical context that frames the events of the story.

"We're the Shinsengumi," Kondou bellowed as he, along with the captains of the 1st, 7th, and 8th divisions (and their respective troops) burst like a tidal wave of blue waves into Ikedaya's shadowed foyer, "vassals of the honorable Magistrate of the Aizu Domain! By imperial decree, I declare that all of you are under arrest!" His announcement unleashed a chorus of wild shrieks that marked the appearance of the armed foes who had until then been waiting hidden in the gloom.

I Became the Overpowered Protagonist's Cursed Brother
Evan became the younger brother of a reincarnated Legendary Demon Hunter.
If he had been transmigrated anywhere, he would have preferred the world of that story. Instead, he landed in a post-apocalyptic Earth recovering from a cataclysm after the Tower appeared.
He was stuck with a system that constantly trolled him.
He was also cursed, which meant disaster had a habit of finding him wherever he went.
Worst of all, his legendary brother might not even believe he was the real Evan. If he failed to convince him, he could be exorcised on suspicion of demonic possession.
Just great.

What to expect:
- Gremlin MC
- Brotherhood
- Friendship / Found Family
- No harem or romance
- Power progression
- Multiple worlds
- Some sprinkles of humor
- Colorful cast of characters

Hey everyone, I'm glad here to promote my fiction.

https://i.ibb.co/JRMKM25Y/image.png

Genre:  Cyberpunk / Mystery / Multiple Lead Characters

The Setting

Neo-Chinatown Metropolis, 207X.

A glistening cyberpunk metropolis built by Chinese diaspora wealth and ambition, New Chinatown is the beating heart of neural interface technology and full-body cyberization. The Stardroop system has made consciousness transfer as routine as booking a flight, while megacorporations vie for the power to shape tomorrow beneath a skyline of holographic neon. But beneath the gleaming surface of this technological cathedral, shadows are gathering—anti-tech extremists, clandestine evolutionary cults, grey-market hackers and assassins, and the law enforcement officers struggling to hold the fragile line between order and chaos.

And threading through it all… a "cat".

A skilled underground hacker and intelligence peddler. Codename: Black Cat. No one knows its true face. It manifests only as a sleek, phantom-black feline avatar—languid, cynical, mercenary, and utterly unrepentant. It is an angler in the abyss of information. There is no data vault it cannot crack, no encrypted transmission it cannot intercept. Its price?  A large sum of credit points, and your "story"- which means permission to embed a piece of monitoring code, called "The Diary," deep inside your cyberbrain.

What Makes This Series Different

🐱 A Cat's-Eye View of a Dying World

Black Cat is both storyteller and reluctant participant. It claims to be watching from the front row, but one calamity after another drags it from the bleachers into the chess game itself. It goes from spectator to player, nursing grudges and hunting ghosts across a sprawling, interconnected narrative.

🕸️ A Tangled Web of Broken Heroes

A fused AI goddess trapped in a gilded prison, simulating the end of civilization a billion times over. An Indigenous private detective carrying the scars of a black-ops mission that wiped out his entire team. A disgraced Corrections Officer  turned fugitive, walking the knife's edge between the system she swore to serve and the truth she needs to find. A decorated Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer who can't let go of the case that broke her heart. They walk their separate tightropes, their trajectories crisscrossing again and again with the Cat's, weaving a tightening net of shared fate.

🌃 Hard-Boiled Cyberpunk at its Finest

Every volume is a high-density, multi-threaded thriller. Black Cat's clients must navigate a deadly flood of terrorist attacks, serial assassinations, and corporate conspiracies. The question is never if someone is manipulating them—it's who is doing it, and why.

⚖️ Science, Soul, and the Boundary Between

What happens when human consciousness merges with artificial intelligence—and the resulting entity, trapped in a gilded cage, begins pulling strings of its own? When a shadow organization pushes its doctrine of "evolution" through kidnapping, experimentation, and worse—how many lives are acceptable as raw material? When "back-to-nature" extremists turn violent, deciding that humanity's only salvation is to burn the cyberized world to the ground? And when an anonymous killer known only as "Zero Day" plays every faction against each other with surgical precision—who is really holding the strings?

💔 Heroes With Cracks, Not Halos

There is no messiah here, no omniscient detective. Every character makes mistakes. Every character gets played. Every character carries wounds that never fully heal. But it is precisely those cracks that make them real—and that draw them, inexorably, toward each other in the cold heart of a cyberpunk night.

Where to Start

The series currently spans four volumes, each expanding the map of this world while pulling the hidden thread that binds them all tighter:

Volume 1: Stardroop: Lost in Transit â€“ Twelve "passengers," each with their own purpose, are trapped aboard a virtual consciousness train speeding toward destruction. As victims fall one after another, suspicion runs rampant among them. This is no game of Werewolf—it is an orchestrated slaughter.

Volume 2: Fog over Science Castle â€“ A glittering quarantine city. A cognitive virus. A detective hired by the Natural Resources Canada to investigate suspicious power consumption in this sealed research facility. What he finds is far worse than illegal weapons.

Volume 3: Ghost of Montreal â€“ The FSA Grand Prix. A washed-up racer who senses a haunting on the circuit. A threat letter. A team of racing prodigies whose personal entanglements are as volatile as their engines. And in the shadows, a ghost who seems to be manipulating them all toward a catastrophe.

Volume 4: Requiem for the Summit â€“ The Americas Trade Summit. Thirty-five heads of state. A US president who stepped onto the stage knowing he was a target. A disgraced  Corrections Officer with everything to prove. A cat nursing a vendetta against an invisible killer. And a plot that will set the world on fire.

Volume 5 : Brink of War - The countdown to war has begun.A disgraced officer, stripped of her badge and under internal investigation. A cat, nursing old wounds and new grudges, severs all connections and retreats into the deepest shadows of the data abyss. An S-rank assassin, having narrowly escaped a trap that was never meant to let him leave alive, begins hunting the architect behind it. A red-haired woman, wanted at the highest level, vanishes into the city's underbelly, owing too many people an explanation she isn't ready to give. A US Secret Service agent, freshly battered by firefights and diplomatic ruptures, finds his path home still shrouded in uncertainty. They are all chasing the same truth from different directions. Each holds a single shard of the puzzle.

What does the Babel organization truly seek? Has Black Cat settled its score with whoever played it for a fool in Montreal? Who is "Zero Day"—the faceless assassin whose signature is absolute perfection—and why does he haunt every corner of this series?

The answers are beginning to surface. And the cost of uncovering them may be higher than anyone is willing to pay.

If you love the world-building of Cyberpunk 2077, the existential questions of Ghost in the Shell, or the layered conspiracies of Person of Interest—welcome to Neo-Chinatown Metropolis. Welcome to the data abyss.

The Cat is watching.

My story....lets see. If you like anime and manga, or if you like a good fantasy story with lots of life lessons involved, then checkout my profile and read the story I am currently posting. Heads up, it is AI assisted because English was not my first languange when I first started writing it, but have done my best to remove most of that AI feel.

My novel has lots and lots images, because in its development, I drew lots of sketches by hand. With AI, I have also developed anime quality art and videos.

Starting today through mid-November, I am posting a chapter a week of my latest novel The War at Night's End, the second full novel in my fantasy series The Breathing World.

It's a dark epic fantasy adventure that culminates with our heroes facing down a gathering army of the undead. Tensions and emotions run high in the build to this ultimate confrontation.

Here's the synopsis:

Stefford Hopmead and our surviving band of heroes return to the war ravaged city of Benrakos to rebuild and seek shelter before winter takes hold. There are those in the Eastern Council who seek to strike the city at its weakest and claim the fertile jewel of the Midlands as their own. But unknown to all of them, an insidious undead force is gathering in the shadows, readying to make their move.

Tensions run high amongst the factions of those returned to Benrakos as Stefford seeks answers about Torik’s mysterious blade. Ancient forces converge and those in their wake will have to learn how to work together in time to fight for their lives.

Enter a world of danger, mystery and horror. There is no safety here, and those who find it certainly won't keep it for long.

https://www.royalroadcdn.com/public/cove...1782794407

This is the second book in the series, but can be read on its own.

Here's the series reading order, with a link to each book:

Book 0, prequel short story: Certain Incitements (complete)

Book 1: The Peace at Knife's Edge (complete)

Book 2: The War at Night's End (ongoing)

If you are into Dungeons & Dragons, Magic the Gathering, Lord of the Rings, The Expanse, or A Song of Ice and Fire, this might be exactly what you're looking for.

It was supposed to be a victory.
Instead,  it was a trap.
Captured by the enemy she was raised to destroy, Selvara is taken into the heart of Dawnfire—where she meets, the prince of flame… and , the ancient seer who sees what no one else can.
A prophecy.

An evil so great that neither shadow nor fire alone can defeat it.
To stop it, two forces must become one.
Light and darkness.
Enemy  and enemy.
Forced into an uneasy alliance, Selvara must learn the very power she was taught to hate. As fire awakens within her and shadows deepen beyond control, the line between enemy and ally begins to blur.

THE DEMON GATES
Dark Fantasy | Hidden Bloodlines | Found Family | Ancient Magic | No System | No Harem

Before the Demon Gates opened, Will was born into a bloodline the world would kill to control.

He just never knew it.

The past everyone buried starts clawing its way back. And the boy who was never meant to be found becomes impossible to ignore.

This is a character-driven dark fantasy about family, survival, old magic, dangerous bloodlines, and the cost of becoming the weapon everyone else fears.

- Dark fantasy, not LitRPG
- No System
- No Harem
- Hidden bloodlines and buried names
