July Thread - Promote your Story

#1
We're in July already, hasn't June just flown by! This month is going to be fantastic as well  https://www.royalroadcdn.com/public/smil...fdKsww.png with even more amazing fictions!

Last few hours for those who entered to get your community contest words in.  It will be judged very soon!

Now, authors, share your latest story with the Royal Road community! Whether it's a romp of an adventure, a sweet romance, or a gun-splintering sci-fi. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it.

When promoting your story, feel free to get creative. You can include a brief description, an eye-catching image, and your current word count and plans. But most importantly, make sure to include a link to your Royal Road fiction so readers can easily find and enjoy your work.

Please note that this thread is on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier you post, the more likely your promotion will be seen first. To avoid overcrowding, we will have a new thread at the start of each month where you can promote your story again.

Also, don't forget to check out this forum to promote your fiction, https://www.royalroad.com/forums/5689

If you also like Reddit or Facebook, head over and check out our pinned threads there! *will update links soon as I cross-post them!*

For readers, take a chance and explore all the stories available here.

Editing to add again. Please don't post shout-out codes in here. We want to see real pitching, thanks!

Hello everyone! I hope you all have been staying safe in this blazing summer heat!

https://www.royalroadcdn.com/public/cove...1782781779

The God’s Gauntlet is a multi-dimensional scavenger hunt set across ten different worlds, each corresponding to a different genre of fantasy. Expect our four protagonists to traverse through cultivation realms, post-apocalyptic civilizations, western fantasy worlds, dungeons, sci-fi dimensions, and more. All while being broadcasted for divine entertainment.

If you like ORV and The Amazing Race, then you are in for a treat with this book. There’s already over 30k words written, with plenty more on the way!

You may Read and Review any story I have posted here on Royal Road.

Here are some brief pitches.

DOTS is a SciFI Adventure, inspired by a series of dreams.
-- The Soda Truck Scene, the Vending Machine and the Black --
-- Rio's Insane Doggie Rescue, Aika's Bathroom and Bathtub, and many more.
One such dream scene is Chapter SIX of The Book of DILIGENCE.
Together, these two chapters won the Grand Prize in Toronto's HearHERE Contest.
DOTS stands Complete as a series of seven Light Novels. It clocks in at 175,000 words.

https://www.royalroadcdn.com/public/cove...1677530483  https://i.imgur.com/QDkSB42.jpghttps://i.gifer.com/5gi4.gif
C.A.R.O.L.I.N. is a SciFI Tragedy. It also was inspired by dreams.
It doesn't contain as many dreams as my DOTS, but it was my very first story-dream.
I view it as my Masterpiece. There is no other story that I've worked on so hard.
C.A.R.O.L.I.N. stands complete as a series of six Light Novels. It clocks in at 90,000 words.

The VocaLords was written in response to a contest I had entered.
It's a SciFI Action/Adventure portrayed as an episodic Anime Series.
Season One stands complete at five Episodes, clocking in at 32,000 words.
I plan to write two more Seasons.
Each Epsiode has at least one song in it that I have written, with the lyrics incorporated into the tale.

https://i.imgur.com/tOOSgwJ.jpg  https://www.royalroadcdn.com/public/cove...1676971102  https://i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p68...a5158a.gif
QueerSpace is also written in response to a contest I'd entered.
As a result, it was published in Moral Fortitude's Nothing Can Keep Us Apart anthology.
Like The VocaLords, it is an episodic Anime Series.
Unlike The VocaLords, it is a rollicking Space Western Comedy.
It currently stands at four Episodes, clocking in at 38,000 words.
I plan to write at least three more Episodes.

forever eve stands Complete (for now) as a Paranormal Horror/Romance, at 18,000 words.
It was written for IndiaCentral's Love Shots Contest, where it won the Grand Prize!
It also was inspired by a dream, of a liitle girl fighting against trees.
Recently, I've dreamt the end scene to the series, about a black cat, a bicycle, and a flight of stairs.
I'm looking forward to writing it very much.

TRANSCIETY is a SciFi Adventure/Romance, being offered exclusively on Royal Road.
The first arc is complete and is posted, standing at 31,000 words.
I have four more arcs planned for TRANSCIETY, bringing the word count to 150,000 words.
And again, like forever eve, I'm looking forward to writing it very much.

Synopsis →

A mother cat adopted an infant dragon, then she ended up getting the dragon’s system.

But how exactly did it happen?

Dawn, a normal black cat, was searching for a home for her newborn kittens. But instead, she found a mewling infant, abandoned under a humongous tree.

The infant creature was a lightning dragon, a reincarnator, and a system wielder. Dawn's motherly instincts forced her to adopt it.

But then, the dragon’s system deemed the dragon itself too undeveloped, and it decided to find a suitable host. That suitable host was, unfortunately, Dawn.

This got her involved with the supernatural side of the world, starting with annoying system pop-ups hindering her vision. Will her cat-level intelligence be enough to remove the system?

Moreover, how is a small cat supposed to protect a dragon? How is a small cat supposed to gather enough food to raise a growing lightning dragon?

What to expect →

👉🏻 LitRPG (Stats introduced in Chapter 12)
👉🏻 High fantasy & magic
👉🏻 Slow progression
👉🏻 Intense combat scenes
👉🏻 Weak to strong growth

I haven't done this in a little while, so why not. The 90's Kid is the perfect summer read! Chapters have recently been split in half for easier reading. You might also see my first ever ad for this series.

If you were given the chance, would you go back and revisit your childhood? Maybe you can't embody your younger self, but what about seeing the city where you grew up with fresh perspective? Would you poke around, find the secrets you missed, see what others were up to long ago while you weren't looking?

One morning, Wes walked through a mysterious time portal in his pantry door that brought him back to his halcyon days. He was ten years old in 1995. The hours were long and childhood stretched to the horizon. All he needed were his buddies, video games, and TV. Even school felt like a part of an endless summer, the playground a place where friendships and legends were born. He once ruled in a kingdom of kids. How could all of that ever end?

But they did, and Wes learned little from observing it all happen again. After a year in the past, he returns to 2020. Only to then go back a second time, with his young nephew Jace. His plan: convince the jaded kid that the decade was something special, and insert him into his old friend group, where he can tinker with a few things that will surely give his uncle Wes a better future than the one he found himself in.

Is it a little self-centered? You bet. Is there a chance for some actual self-improvement and reflection on the past through his adult eyes? That, too. But there's also time for some fun on the side, games to be played and cartoons to be watched. It's not infinite, though, so better make the best of it. All that pizza isn't going to eat itself. And if they're not careful, those who enforce the laws around time travel will eat it for them.

When you need a break from all the LitRPG stories, you can pull up a couch and chill with Wes and the gang. It's a cozy ride, but there are going to be some big bumps in this old familiar road.

And what the heck is under the King Arcade amusement park?

Features:
Nostalgia, uncle-nephew buddy hijinks, non-excessive time travel, a dense and rich fictional city full of history and childhood lore, pizza, sleepovers, video games and movies, long stretches of cozy, low-stakes moments dappled by drama and insane boss fights, snark and character development, recess, huge surprises, road trips, pesky time cops, and much more. Check out 90skidstory.com for lots more.

You might also enjoy...
Valice, my sweeping sci-fi trilogy that starts in the slums of a dystopian Chicago in a world guided by a corrupt Empire, to a space opera set thousands of years in the future. Every book is about some form of rebellion, and making friends on the way.

Aurra is my contemporary fantasy series with 97 chapters written and a few dozen more planned. Takes place during a revolution in a world opposite Earth where everyone goes from here to be reborn.

And Cold Relics is a creepypasta-style web series I've been working on for even longer than 90's Kid. Features a main series and an anthology one as well.

Silkpunk Meets Eldritch / Dark Fantasy

The Heavens are cracked like broken porcelain. The Buddha statues are made of pulsating meat. And someone has to clean up the mess.

Xie Bi'an is a "Gleaner" for the Directorate of Astronomy. It sounds noble. In reality? He is a janitor for the Gods.
His job is to recycle the unkillable Eldritch filth leaking from the sky. His tool is a rusted blade. His reward is turning slowly into cold, unfeeling glass.

No System. No Heroics. No Harem.
Just a tired man trying to finish his shift before he becomes a statue himself.

What to expect:
  • Atmospheric & Slow-Burn: The horror creeps up on you
  • Unique Magic: Desperate, physical transmutation
  • High-Density Prose: Focus on sensory details—rust, cold meat, and cracking glass

Erador Lucasta wants to leave the cult he was born into but he’s been marked as a soldier for life. It’s a death sentence outside his degrading village, but that’s not the only reason Erador stays. But when a witch named Yuni is hired to heal him, Erador knows his father will never accept death and give him the closure he deserves.

When the livestock and crops die, and a vindictive shape shifter is released with witch magic, Erador is certain Yuni was behind the atrocities, but no one believes him. The followers have faith she’ll heal Judgment and save their cult from extinction, but Erador knows she’s lying. His suspicions are confirmed after a follower is brutally murdered by magic.

Erador must prove that Yuni is out to kill them before anyone else gets hurt. When he discovers that Yuni’s brooch with green fire could be the key to getting rid of her, he wants to use it to turn the followers against her. Hello everyone! I hope you are doing great in your life.

When an ambush nearly kills him, he is saved by Lyra—a young witch obsessed with advanced and forbidden magic. Her price for saving him? A massive life debt and his service as her personal vanguard.

Two lives are bound by a one-way magical tether, and only one of them knows.

Wings Between Silence is a psychological dark fantasy about control, pressure, and the cost of staying intact.

An operative trained to be obedient is assigned to the Bronze Concord, where its living oaths no longer answer. There, a fairy binds himself to her in secret, creating a connection that holds where everything else is designed to wear her down.

Nothing breaks at once. It gives, then shifts, then holds. Until it no longer does.

Not a romance. No system, stats, or power fantasy.
Slow-burn, character-driven, and intentionally uncomfortable.

• Volume 5 complete

The World Conquered by the Wolves

The year is 2020. Eight years have passed since the devastating disease known simply as the Retrovirus spread across the earth and ravaged human society. Those who were lucky died horrific deaths. But for the rest? They were changed, twisted into insane, wolven monsters that would become known as the Ferals - a force that would bring many of the countries of the world to their knees.

Ian Barber is a Merryhunter, a human scavenger who tries to support the poor and desperate within the city of Manchester, one city in the remaining half of the United Kingdom whilst doing all he can to survive. But what was supposed to be a risky but otherwise normal job goes horrible wrong. Captured, and subjected to horrific experimentation, he is transformed himself. Not into a Feral, he is changed into a Nýúlfur. This other breed of 'werewolf' are far smarter than Ferals, yet much stronger than humans.

A group of werewolves that at the time of humanity's greatest need, proceeded to massacre humans wherever they went, becoming even more hated than the Ferals themselves.

With his life completely destroyed, Ian quite literally falls into the young, post-outbreak nation of Cascadia, struggling to work out how to even go on. But his newfound status gives him a unique perspective into the world, including the true nature of the conflict between Humanity and the Nýúlfur. However, the mysterious Organisation that experimented on him in the first place will soon re-emerge. An Organisation with a peculiar connection to the Retrovirus...

Nýúlfur: The New Wolf is my first serial novel, a post-apocalyptic werewolf story that features the very serious themes of tackling racism and hatred, obtaining new perspectives and developing bonds that you were not expecting. It is, of course, a werewolf story at its heart. Expect lots of bloody sword and gun battles with Hollywood werewolves, anthro werewolves and a whole mix of humans... and yet still plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments!

What to Expect:
  • Graphic, high-pace combat and profanity, often in the middle of said graphic combat.
  • 3rd Person Limited Story, focusing on the perspective of a single main character who is redefining his place in the world, although other perspectives do sneak in.
  • Plenty of character development and discussion, including both the heartwarming kind and the hilarious kind. But there are also some serious, philosophical discussions when there isn't the high intensity combat to worry about.
  • An ensemble cast of characters, both heroes and villains alike with their own personalities, motivations and quirks. All of them have considerable depth behind their personalities.
  • A vast post-apocalyptic world, with a lot of complexity and secrets slowly being unveiled in time.
  • At the time of posting, well over 200,000 words of content are gradually being posted just from the volume chapters alone, as well as additional side chapters and stories that may be released at another time.
  • Contemporary themes related to racism, identity, perspectives, friendship and consequences.
  • Werewolves. Just lots of werewolves. I can wolf it up more for sure but I'm fairly sure there will be too much wolf for even my wolfy self to handle. You have furry wolves, insane werewolves, mutated wolves, the whole wolfbang. Wolf.
What not to expect:
  • Erotic/NSFW content of any kind. Seriously, no.
And good news! I am delighted to confirm that I am in the beginning stages of planning and developing a Nýúlfur tabletop game alongside another setting known as Arcbots! This is also to come alongside a Patreon page which can include artwork and maybe a comic adaption! Do watch this space!

The New Wolf is also rapidly approaching the end as Volume 1! So make sure to check the story out before Volume 2 is made ready!

I hope you guys take the time to check out my story and I hope you enjoy it!

The gods summoned heroes to save their world. They chose to kill the gods instead.

As the divine kingdoms fell and shattered upon the world, the victors claimed the pieces and ascended into their twisted golden thrones.

Grim was born in the shadow of that fell legacy. A descendant of one of those Heroes' blessed harems. He must now make his way through an unforgiving world, of Heroes that hold the world in an iron fist.

Allowing none to rise high enough to challenge their rule.

But Grim is also plagued by more than false idols. Something stalks him. A past life he has no memory of, where he made a deal with a demon for new life, and his soul the price, to be claimed upon his death. He knows this, because the demon has whispered it to him in every nightmare since before he could walk.

The hells are waiting.

Hunted by a past he cannot recall and trapped in a world where power is tightly controlled, Grim must walk a dangerous path. One that draws the attention of rulers who will never allow another threat to rise, and he must uncover the truth behind his forgotten life, to break a bargain that was never meant to be undone.

Before the world, or the hells waiting beneath it, consume him.

***

NOTE: I prefer story over gruesome spectacle but I will still explore themes that are uncomfortable for some. So please if you know you are of faint heart, leave now rather than give a bad review later.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

* Lite LitRPG

* No instant power up. The MC will work for every scrap of power they have and the consequences that come with it.

* Immersive worldbuilding.

* Higher powers have a more active role similar to old tales about God's.

* A dark fantasy that won't get too caught up in the dark.

* No Harem

* 250K word backlog.

****

If you found that you like the blurb or the picture, heck maybe simply because the sum of your entire life has somehow led you to reading this. why not go a step further and actually try that first chapter.

Who knows, you might actually like it.

"Dream with your eyes open."

A cyberpunk supernatural mystery where virtual worlds are only the surface, and reality itself is beginning to crack.

In this world, high-salinity flotation chambers combine sensory deprivation, neural stimulation, VR audiovisual guidance, and real-time synchronization with a user's inner perception, allowing the brain to generate dreamlike experiences while fully awake.

Connected to cloud servers, these experiences become virtual worlds more vivid than reality itself.

To escape an increasingly hollow world, people immerse themselves in them every day.

To most people, it's just another entertainment industry.

Until a black-market neural operator and his unlikely allies stumble upon something hidden beneath the servers—and find themselves caught between a hidden order and the agency hunting it, buried histories, and layers of reality that were never meant to be uncovered.

What begins as a dangerous new form of immersion soon becomes something far harder to escape: a world where the lines between people blur just as quickly as the lines between realms, and where the question isn't only what lies beneath—but who, among those around you, is telling the truth.

Because virtual worlds are only the surface.

And something has already begun to reach back.

OF NAME AND NOTHING — Volume 1 Complete (30 ch / 90k words)

Dark literary fantasy · multi-POV · planned trilogy

Some people are born Named — their worth written into their blood before they draw breath. The rest are Nameless. Disposable. Born already owing the world a reason to exist.

Mizuki is the heir of a great clan, hiding something under her hat that would get her whole family killed.

Noll is Nameless, dying, and the most dangerous mind on the continent — sent into enemy territory with the one person assigned to make sure he never comes back.

And around them, a whole cast who don't think of themselves as anyone's supporting characters — every clan head, every rival, every enemy is the protagonist of their own story, fighting for their own answer to the same question: what is a person worth, and who gets to decide?

No system. No grinding. No chosen one. Just people on every side of a question that's killing everyone who answers it wrong — and prose that respects you enough to make you assemble the truth yourself.

A complete first arc with a real ending. Built to the last page across three volumes.

If you've been waiting for something that isn't progression-LitRPG — this was written for you.

Consider checking out Fake Chosen One. A comedic LitRPG story where you follow the misadventures of CJ as he pretends to be The Chosen One. You can just imagine the hijinks that follow as he faces the forces of evil, calamities, and trials that he has no business being in. With luck and a couple of friends he'll hopefully survive and maybe, just maybe he'll get out before he gets caught. There are 130 Chapters and we've just ended the 4th arc and are heading straight into the 5th arc. Join me as we laugh at the audacity of The Fake Chosen One
