Also, I too wish to know if Mango cut herself on a rusted piece of rubbish she wanted to throw away for a friend. (I like to imagine it was an old gun that was related to a local homicide)
What.... And just hear me out.... What if it was a suspicious, sharp-edged BRICK?!!!!!
The plot thickens!

Bricks are well-deserved, but can't blame all of life's nuisances on them.

Hello!
This thread reads like a mystery novel today. Well, all's well as long as it ends well! Hope you are all okay, and @happymango get better soon!
Just wanted to ask you guys: did you enter any of your stories for the June magazine competition? And if you win, how are you going to celebrate? :)

I highly doubt I‘ll win, but even if I get into the top 20% or something I‘d be happy.
I forgot how much fun short stories could be, though I‘m not going to celebrate in any capacity

don't even get me started on the amount of mosquitos there are this summer
the saddest part is the friend will never know it's bc i went out of my way to grab them a sweet treat, and i ended up having to cancel anyway like an hour before we were supposed to meet. so then i felt doubly awful 😭🥺
it's okay! it has passed with the help of lots of gauze and i got all the warm fuzzies from you lovely cutie pies!

I think I've solved the murder. It was Ms. Mango, with the rusty nail, in the parking lot.

Hello.
What timing! I just wrote the last word in one of my magazine entries from Jan comp. Clocking in at just over 86k, and it's finally done! Yay! (not counting editing and posting)
I entered two back in Jan and my shorter one got 7th place. The comp before that mine got 12th. I am slowly getting better. I entered just one this time (Rocking Horse Regiment) and actually managed to keep it between 8k-9k. Fingers crossed for top five. If I win I will spend several minutes running around the house squealing, but even if I don't I always enjoy these comps. Hoping to slowly improve my placing so even 6th wouldn't be pretty cool.

I have no expectations of the contest, but I did my best, and I enjoyed the final result. What more do you need, really? It's all fleeting words in a tub of words contending with more words otherwise. Live and learn or something as they say.

thankfully not, but i do remember a rather vivid memory of watching a friend step onto a rusty nail that was left behind on discarded plank, about 12 years ago during a camping trip. big ole puncture right in the centre of her sole
🙁

Like 90% of the time, the twist is the person they "cleared" early on or was implicitly trusted or so on is actually the bad guy. Not sure who that would be in this case.

Always a busy bee, fivey-pie. Don't forget to hydrate and food-ate before the flight.

Aww. You think I'm the most trustworthy person? You sweet talker, you.
