Unleashed Recompiled is an unofficial PC port of the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed[Note 1], a singleplayer platform game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It features bug fixes, new features, improved graphics and modding support.

On March 1, 2025, it was slowly revealed across the span of a seven hour live stream on YouTube, showcasing a collection of bizarre mods and some new features of the port that were deliberately obfuscated to confuse the audience, before being announced towards the end and was subsequently released on GitHub.[2]

Since its release, the modding community for Sonic Unleashed has boomed with the added support of Hedge Mod Manager, superseding Unleashed Mod Manager whilst still supporting legacy mods.[3] With a more accessible way to play Sonic Unleashed, the modding community is expanding and the tools that were previously developed for use with Sonic Generations are being updated to support it.

  • PS3 FMVs – Ports over the high quality FMV files from the PlayStation 3 version.
  • Uncropped Intro – Ports the Wii/PS2's 16:9 Open Matte version of the Opening Movie.
  • Unleashed Fixes – Disables color correction filters applied in certain stages that severely wash out the contrast of the image, fixes high frame rate bugs in Rooftop Run Day Acts 2-2 and 4, and restores missing balloon sound effects in Dragon Road Day Acts 2 and 2-2 and Jungle Joyride Day Act 1-2.
  • Adjusted Animations – Fixes an animation error while boosting. In mod manager be sure to set Animation Style to Default.
  • High Resolution Textures – Replaces a multitude of environment textures from higher-resolution sources, specifically early builds of the game, DLC, and cutscenes.
  • Generic QTE Buttons – Alternative UI that revises the buttons for a variety of controllers, with button locations visible during QTE prompts.
