Mouse smoothing

Disable mouse smoothing

[/Script/Engine.InputSettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=false

Mouse sensitivity

Adjust INI file
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Input.ini and add the following:
[/script/engine.inputsettings]
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseX",AxisProperties=(Exponent=1.000000))
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseY",AxisProperties=(Exponent=0.700000))

Notes

Try readjusting the Y axis multiplier if 0.7 doesn't feel right. Changing these values may break joystick input. Also affects flying with mouse controls (if enabled), swimming and free look, as it lowers sensitivity on the Y axis.

Issues unresolved

High frame rate issues

The druids in Alpine Ridge won't use their magic

The Green Druids are enemies from Spyro 1 that use magic in order to move objects, but they may not do it when the in-game frame rate cap is reached. In that case, the level Alpine Ridge becomes impossible, since it's designed around this mechanic.
Set in-game frame rate cap to 30 FPS or to "Unlimited". For the latter, the frame rate can be capped to higher values externally.[6][7]

Spyro slides around when standing still

If the frame rate goes above 120 FPS, Spyro may slide around the terrain with no input, resulting in very slippery controls.[8]
Cap the frame rate to 120 FPS or lower.[6]

Miscellaneous

All games

  • Spyro's jump height is slightly lower at higher frame rates.[9]
    • This makes a few vertical jumps inconsistent, but they are still doable at 120 FPS.
    • In Mystic Marsh (Spyro 2), there is a river in which Spyro is supposed to be able to jump out from anywhere, but can't at high frame rates. However, this doesn't block off any part of the level, and Spyro can still get out of the river by first jumping to an island (or alternatively, to lower rocks that are walkable).

Spyro 3

  • In the Fireworks Factory minigame area, the sections of the Twin Fire Dragons will "bunch up" more at higher frame rates, which makes the dragons shorter and thus harder to hit.[10]
  • The slides in the Crystal Islands minigame area and Haunted Tomb:[11]
    • Spyro's turning speed is noticeably lower at higher frame rates. At 120 FPS, Crystal Islands' slide is still easy enough, but Haunted Tomb's becomes extremely difficult.
    • At very high frame rates (100+ FPS), Spyro is unable to accelerate during the slide. This means that if he enters the slide without any starting horizontal speed, he'll get stuck "sliding" in place.[12]
  • In the Sparx Realm levels:[13]
    • Sparx's fire rate is faster at higher frame rates, which makes his levels easier. At 60 FPS it's almost doubled compared to 30 FPS, and the higher the frame rate, the closer it gets to being double.[Note 3]
    • The green power-up, which gives Sparx 300 rapid-fire ammo, has a fire rate that scales linearly with the frame rate: he shoots one projectile per frame.

Long loading times when entering a portal in Spyro 1

In Spyro 1, when entering a portal, loading times are long (around 25 seconds) regardless of the hardware.

It can be assumed that the seamless transition is the reason for the issue, as it's the only loading that doesn't end with the screen fading.

The loading times are as long as expected when using a portal to exit a level, using fast travel, or entering a portal in the other games of the trilogy, which end with the screen fading.

    To be more precise, it doesn't have to be Unlimited: the actual frame rate simply needs to be lower than the in-game maximum.
