Parnassus also has a Book Club Registry, which enables local book groups to order and purchase their club's monthly selection at a 10% discount. Monthly titles are displayed in the store on the book club shelf with the club's name. Registered clubs also receive notices of special book club related author events and seminars. To register a club, simply stop by the store and fill out a short form -- just ask at the register.
Parnassus Book Club and the Parnassus Classics Club Kathy Schultenover is the Parnassus Book Club and Classics Club Coordinator. Kathy is a former English teacher who has been leading book groups for more than forty years, to great acclaim. She started the in-store clubs at Davis-Kidd Booksellers in Nashville, and facilitated the Davis-Kidd Book Club, the Davis-Kidd Classics Club, and the Davis-Kidd Women's Book Club for seventeen years. Kathy helped open Parnassus Books, and many members of her book clubs at Davis-Kidd now attend her book clubs at Parnassus. Meetings include lively discussions amongst varying numbers of participants of all ages. |

The Parnassus Book Club currently meets in-store on the third week of each month (except December). Meetings are held Monday and Tuesday evenings at 6pm and Thursday mornings at 10am. Monthly selections are generally contemporary fiction, with an occasional non-fiction work. Attending the meetings is free to participants; no registration is necessary to attend. Please join us for lively discussion! Everyone is welcome. |

The Parnassus Classics Club meets in-store every other month on the fourth Thursday at 10am and 6pm. Meetings are free; no registration is necessary. This club reads literary works written before 1970 and holds interactive discussions like the Parnassus Book Club. Store manager Andy Brennan joins Kathy to lead the discussion for the Classics Club. All are welcome! |

Between the Covers Romance Book ClubBookseller Katie Garaby is the Between the Covers coordinator. Katie has lived on and off in Nashville with her wife and kiddo for almost a decade. She’s your girl if you wanna talk for hours (and we mean hours) about monster romances, the quest for the perfect sapphic romance, or anything Katee Roberts. She loves a grumpy/sunshine and a useful alien tail. (Hubba hubba!) A few things about the club: (1) This is an adult romance club. For us, that means we are going to be reading books that are explicit in nature. (2) The club is a safe space to celebrate love in ALL its forms. We read and support queer, Black, and POC writers/characters in addition to more well known (and, let’s face it, white and straight) authors/stories. Want to sign up for Between the Covers emails? Fantasy Readers GuildFantasy Readers Guild is hosted by booksellers and long-time fantasy aficionados Rachel and Jenny! All are welcome to join the guild, but please note that this group is intended for those 18 and up.
