Villar Perosa is the name of a little town and comune (municipality) located in the lower Chisone Valley, on the western slopes of the ridge Rocciacotello (1035 m) - Monte Parpaiola (1239 m).

The rock substratum in the municipal area consists of rocks belonging to the Dora-Maira Massif. Upper Carboniferous graphitic meta-conglomerates and meta-sandstones are dominant, polydeformed mica schists subordinately occur. Permian dioritic orthogneiss, the so-called "Malanaggio diorite", is present in the southernmost sector of the municipal territory (San Benedetto area). However, outcrops of rocks are scarce and generally limeted to the steepest slopes of the valleys and to the road cuts.
