Academic Integrity
Academic integrity means being honest, fair, and responsible in your academic work. It involves producing your own original work, acknowledging the sources of ideas you use, and following MIC rules and expectations. More than just following guidelines, academic integrity reflects your personal values and shapes your learning experience.
By acting with integrity, you demonstrate respect for yourself, your lecturers, and your peers. You also build habits that support genuine learning, critical thinking, and ethical development - skills that are essential both during your studies and in your future profession.
Generative AI Guidance
Generative AI Guidance, created by LEAD in partnership with Data Compliance and ICT, provides resources and guidance to staff and students on the appropriate use of Generative AI in teaching and learning at MIC.
Topics include:
- Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)
- Overview of the technologies' possibilities and limitations
- Outline of what acceptable use might look like for staff and students
- Tips and guidance on how Generative AI can appropriately be incorporated in everyday use at MIC
- Examples of Generative AI infringements
- Considerations for grading in the context of GenAI
- Glossary of key terms

LEAD Knowledge Base
The LEAD Knowledge Base provides an always-available source of assistance and guidance on the range of digital teaching and learning tools and services that are used at MIC. Specifically designed to provide support to MIC staff and students, the LEAD Knowledge Base is designed to be easily searched and to provide up-to-date, clear, step-by-step how-to guides in text and/or video formats. Being available around the clock, and consisting of in excess of 300 relevant topics, the Knowledge Base allows you to access the information you need when and where you want.

AI in Education Series
Irish Centre for AI Research in Education (ICAIRE) and the Learning Enhancement & Academic Development (LEAD) unit at Mary Immaculate College are pleased to present the 'AI in Education Talk Series' - an exciting initiative which aims to encourage and embrace a deeper understanding of the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in education and research.
The talk series features five expert-led sessions, and explores key themes such as academic integrity and ethics; the use of AI in assessments; the effective use of AI in research and more. This series also provide educators and researchers with insights into the opportunities and challenges AI presents in educational contexts.

LEAD Teaching and Learning Excellence Case Studies
The case studies below highlight the excellent teaching and learning practices that are in place across MIC. Each case study provides a detailed description of the approaches implemented, the benefits and challenges of such approaches, and tips for those who wish to implement similar approaches in their own teaching. In addition, resources such as grading rubrics and assessment forms, have kindly been shared by the teaching staff in these case studies.
