“Oh, yeah, badges! They have lots of different effects. People who travel through the Flower Kingdom like using them.”
Prince Florian, Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Badges in Super Mario Bros. Wonder are collectable and equippable items that are found from completion of a Badge Challenge or bought from Poplin Shops (with the exception of the Standee Shop in the Special World). Prince Florian equips these badges to assist the players in courses, with each badge having a unique effect on the player's movement, state, or appearance or adding a new skill, making them comparable to the Power Badges from Yoshi's Woolly World. Players can equip a badge before starting a course or upon losing a life. In some courses, Prince Florian will recommend a badge to use. "Prince's Choice", which can be selected by pressing L Button on the badge-selection screen, will either choose the recommended badge, or choose a random badge if none is recommended. There are 24 badges in the base version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, with 18 more included in its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, making a total of 42 badges.

The first badge, Parachute Cap, is obtained from Badge House in Pipe-Rock Plateau. The final badge, Sound Off?, is unlocked from first completing the final course in the game, The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon, then entering the Poplin house WONDER? If players obtain every badge, they are awarded one of six medals to their current save file.
