Crypto Zoo is one of the animal-themed microgames featured in Kat & Ana's stage in WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase. It returns in WarioWare Gold as one of Orbulon's microgames.

GameplayEdit

There are three contiguous tiles showing portions of an animal, but not necessarily the same animal. Selecting a tile by tapping it or pressing   changes which animal is shown on each tile. The game is complete when the tiles are set to the same animal, such that it displays a real (though distorted) animal.

WarioWare: D.I.Y. ShowcaseEdit

The animals are a giraffe, cat, bird, and a pig. When complete, the screen flashes and Wario laughs.

WarioWare GoldEdit

Each tile rotates through the possible animals in the same order, even if the tiles start on different animals. When the game is complete, confetti falls and the animal makes a noise. Note that the game checks when the tile is toggled; visual confirmation that the tiles match is not required.

  • 1st level difficulty: Two of the tiles match from the start. The animals are an aardvark, a goldfish, and a pig.
  • 2nd level difficulty: None of the tiles match from the start. The animals are a cat, a camel, a chicken, and a sheep.
  • 3rd level difficulty: None of the tiles match from the start. The animals are a bird, a zebra, and a cheetah. There is also a carrot, which does not complete the microgame if formed.

NamingEdit

"Crypto Zoo" is a play on "cryptozoology", the pseudoscientific study of unknown creatures, with the word "zoo".
