The Shop Around the Corner was the first Ernst Lubitsch film I saw and as soon as the characters started interacting with each other I instantly knew this was a guy who knew how to handle dialogue in what is referred to as the so-called ‘Lubitsch Touch’. James Stewart as cute and adorable as always (perhaps a lil more grumpy) and some funny situations. The script skips the main characters conflict nearly altogether but I guess that´s the way the movies were made back then.

It´s a happy movie to watch.
