Electrical Power Engineer

VST is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Power Engineer to join our traction team. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis of DC or AC traction power systems for railways, light rail transit (LRT), or other electrified transportation networks. The candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects, gaining practical knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Plus: Any Traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).

Qualifications

• BA/BS +2 years relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Required Skills

• Understanding of electrical power systems and circuit analysis and electrical theory.
• Familiarity with AC and DC power concepts.
• Strong interest in railway or transit systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other VST offices.

Preferred Skills

• 2 to 3 years work experience in performing Traction Power projects.
• Electrical Engineering Degree with a focus on Power Systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus.
