As a proud member of the Carbon Business Council, we're pleased to support the rollout of the Council's new Policy Primer, which lays out Canada's trillion-dollar opportunity to be a global hub for carbon removal – and how we get there.
🇨🇦 NEW RESOURCE: Canada has a trillion-dollar opportunity to scale carbon removal. Today, the Carbon Business Council and its partners have released a new publication: “Boosting Canada’s Economy: Policy Recommendations to Unlock Canada as the Global Hub for Carbon Removal.” The Policy Primer’s release marks a deepening of the Council’s footprint in Canada and the leadership of its Canadian Policy Working Group, made up of more than 20 companies and organizations committed to scaling carbon removal in Canada. The primer lays out policy recommendations that are grounded in Canada’s existing frameworks and are designed to accelerate every stage of the carbon removal lifecycle, from research and development to commercialization and international deployment. https://lnkd.in/gAmRw-Y2 The Policy Primer outlines three pillars for building a thriving Canadian carbon removal ecosystem: ・Unlocking reliable demand to de-risk investment ・Mobiling strategic financing to lower costs and accelerate deployment ・Creating a market where Canadian CDR can thrive globally We are deeply grateful to the members of our Steering Committee, whose expertise and insights have shaped these recommendations: Dima Lazarova (Climeworks); Diana Philip (Planetary); Jason Vanderheyden (Deep Sky); Sean Lowrie (Arca), and Vikrum Aiyer (Heirloom). The Policy Primer is available in both French and English. Read more: [ENG]: https://lnkd.in/g5cxxZT2; [FRN]: https://lnkd.in/gXVryvSi

It was great to welcome our MP Blaine Calkins, along with his colleagues from Newfoundland, Carol Anstey and Jonathon Rowe to Innisfail. Both are newly elected MPs. Thank you to the Deep Sky team for taking these folks on a tour of the facility and also, many thanks to Bob Bilton for taking some time to meet with everyone during lunch. So many more places to visit, so we look forward to them coming back again. Thank you to Blaine for organizing an Innisfail visit!

Deploying CDR rapidly is a team sport, and this milestone for Deep Sky shows that off well. Integrating land, power, direct air capture modules, and CO2 storage is no easy task. We look forward to what's next at Deep Sky's Alpha testbed: trialing a range of DAC technologies. H/t to the entire Deep Sky team!
It's a historic day for carbon removal and climate change mitigation globally. Today, we announced that our first carbon removal facility, Deep Sky Alpha, has officially begun operations, marking the successful start of carbon removal and North America’s first-ever sequestration of CO₂ captured directly from the atmosphere. Globally, there’s been $10B spent on carbon removals so far, but only 2.2% of purchases have been delivered. We're proud to be racing towards carbon removal credit delivery this fall, delivering on our fast timeline and helping companies begin offsetting their emissions. 🎤 “This is a defining moment, not just for Deep Sky, but for the global carbon removal industry,” said Alex Petre, Deep Sky CEO. “In just one year, we went from breaking ground to pulling carbon from the sky and locking it underground for good. Companies around the world are looking for high-quality, durable carbon removal to offset carbon footprints. With Deep Sky Alpha, we’re proving that it’s not only possible, it’s here.” Today's news demonstrates that Canada is a carbon removal superpower that can address the climate change emergency head-on. Featured DAC units that are currently commissioning include UK-based Airhive and Mission Zero Technologies and Quebec-based Skyrenu Technologies. 🗞️ Press release: https://lnkd.in/eXxXTVqd

Yesterday‘s #CO2Kongress offered a stimulating discussion with heavy emitters across Switzerland on ways to establish CO2 #infrastructure in Switzerland. We were delighted to partner with gazenergie and support two Canadian experts as speakers in front of the 160 attendees: Gregory Maidment of Deep Sky , and Candice Paton of Enhance Energy Inc. The Embassy of Canada | Ambassade du Canada is happy to share the Canadian expertise on Carbon Capture and Storage #CCS, and much of our data on Carbon management, including technical & financial details, is publicly available. Congratulations to Deep Sky for bringing their first #DAC facility online in less than a year, and to Enhance Energy Inc. for winning approval of their #OriginsCCS hub on the #Alberta Carbon Trunk Line. Acces to storage reservoirs & stable regulations are key for enabling investment into decarbonisation of heavy industries.
