Leadership Spotlight Series ✨ Rebecca Archer is a Chief Deputy County Attorney for the County of San Mateo. With 16 and a half years of experience, her passion for public service stems from her family background in the foreign service. Growing up in a public service-oriented environment, she developed a deep appreciation for the impact individuals can have on their communities. While beginning her law career in private practice Rebecca eventually gravitated towards pro bono work and an interest in understanding government functions. Rebecca believes in continuous learning and acknowledges that effective management is acquired through education, time and experience. She values admitting mistakes, taking ownership, and embracing responsibility, seeing them as opportunities for growth. As a leader, she actively contributes to shaping the community and workplace. She praises her colleagues in the County Attorney's office for their genuine care for clients and mutual support. Rebecca champions diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within her organization and the wider community. She fosters an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives thrive and ensures underrepresented voices are valued. She prioritizes the physical and mental well-being of her team, supporting work-life balance, mental health resources, and personal and professional growth opportunities. Beyond her professional achievements, Rebecca is a passionate artist. She recently won the "Best in Show" award at the Women's Art Show and now hosts her own exhibit in the 400 building after 18 months of hard work. Her commitment to public service, continuous growth, and creative endeavors exemplifies her multidimensional leadership and serve as an inspiring example in today's world. #WorkWithPurpose #leadership #smcgov Photo credit: Ramla Javed - MSHRM, SPHR
