Whether in healthcare or not, most people out there are familiar with the nursing shortage. But the average person may not realize the shortage runs MUCH deeper until they need an x-ray, a surgery, a vent… Healthcare teams feel it every day. These roles like rad techs, CRNAs, and respiratory therapists are the hardest to fill, and chronic under-enrollment and school deserts only makes things tougher. Our CEO Tess Michaels talked to Jason Altmire, DBA about how leading health systems are closing the gap. Listen to the full episode at the link in the comments! 🎧

Latest Episode: How Scholarships Can Fight America’s Healthcare Shortages America's healthcare shortages across nursing and allied health roles are reaching a critical point, with a projected shortage of nearly three million workers across all healthcare roles in just the next few years. Today’s guest, Tess Michaels, the founder and CEO of Clasp, joins host Jason Altmire to discuss how her organization is working to address those shortages through scholarships and employer partnerships. Clasp connects employers and students by offering tuition repayment benefits in exchange for a commitment to work for that employer after graduation, reducing turnover and recruitment costs for businesses while lowering the financial risk of training for high-earning healthcare fields. Jason and Tess also discuss how new federal student loan caps may threaten access to advanced healthcare degrees. Listen to the full episode here: https://heyor.ca/s2qV7j

Chance Nadritch, DNP, CRNA just became a CRNA, weeks out of his program, at the same hospital where a nurse once caught something everyone else missed and saved his grandmother's life. That moment sent him from an accounting degree into nursing school. Getting to this job meant loans he wasn't sure how he'd pay off. Clasp paid $30,000 a year, straight to his loan, for six years. No tax hit like a sign-on bonus. His full balance, gone. "It's actually covering you in a way better financial situation," he told Nurse.org. $180,000 in debt, erased. That's what we built Clasp to do: back people like Chance while they're still training, so a second chance for someone they love becomes a first chance for them. Full story from Chaunie Brusie in the comments. ⬇️

These changes have real implications for college access and affordability, making it more important than ever for students and families to have clear, personalized guidance as they navigate their options. Thank you to Lehigh Daily for covering this important topic and helping shine a light on what these changes could mean for students in the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Over 500 nurses rallied on Capitol Hill today. Their mission? To fight student loan caps that exclude advanced nursing degrees. Representing 49 states and two territories, these nurses want Congress to reverse the Department of Education's new rule. The rule, set for July 1st, limits federal loans for nursing grads to $20,500 a year. How do you think this impacts the nursing profession? 👇 Drop your thoughts below (...continued below)

🆕 coverage from WXXI Public Broadcasting Council, another proof point for Clasp's loan repayment for employment model. Chance Nadritch, DNP, CRNA graduated with $170,000 in CRNA student debt. Through Rochester Regional Health's partnership with Clasp, that debt is gone; in exchange for six years of employment at the institution. "Having that not looming over your head is one of the most breathtaking releases on earth," Nadritch told WXXI. Here's why this matters: CRNAs are about to be in serious demand. Health systems need a cost-effective way to keep up. As Dr. Charlene Wilson, EVP + chief people officer at Rochester Regional Health, told WXXI, healthcare employers have an opportunity to play a more active role in developing the workforces of their communities. 🏥 That's exactly what we do, connect employers with clinical students before graduation and tie loan repayment to employment, so recruitment and retention happen at once. Full story from WXXI's Racquel Stephen in the comments. ⬇️

Sign-on bonuses get new grads in the door. They don't keep them past year two. Tess Michaels joins TA in the Trenches LIVE this Tuesday, 9 AM ET, to talk about what actually stabilizes a clinical workforce. If you're in healthcare TA, pull up a seat. 🎙️

👀🎙️ Join us this Tuesday! Healthcare systems are spending heavily on sign-on bonuses, yet too many new grads leave within two years. Are we solving the shortage—or refilling a leaky bucket? We’re moving beyond generic perks to confront why legacy systems fail to capture the next generation of clinical talent. We’ll share educational-first insights on how high-performance systems use data to bridge the critical gap between where students train during clinical rotations and where they end up working permanently. We analyzed nearly 20,000 public comments submitted to the U.S. Department of Education on the graduate loan cap changes hitting July 1. The opposition was nearly unanimous: 98%.‼️ The nurses and therapists you're trying to hire in 2030 are deciding right now whether grad school is worth it. In three weeks, federal policy will make that decision harder. 🚨 56% of previously qualifying healthcare programs lose their higher borrowing limits. Nursing. Physical therapy. Social work. Behavioral health. Counseling. The professions you already can't hire fast enough. 📉 And the students considering those careers? They're doing the math right now. This is the pipeline problem, and it just got a policy deadline. Clasp helps healthcare employers recruit and retain clinicians affected by the new borrowing limits. Read the full analysis in the comments below. Then ask your team: what's our plan? 💛👇
