DC Internet Finally Hits Australia

Complaining about no full-fledged 'net play in America? You ain't seen nothing yet.

The Australian Dreamcast launch was problematic to say the least. Many consider it to be the worst launch of a major console in Australian history, as only one game was made available at launch, Activision's Blue Stinger. Even worse, the promised internet access, a big advertising push for the console, wasn't ready. And we're not talking about internet gaming - the system's distributor, Ozisoft, couldn't even get the system accessing the interent. The only 'net related thing gamers received upon opening their boxes that fateful launch day was a token, which they were supposed to send in to Ozisoft for 'net software.

Apparently, the largest delays were caused by localization issues and hold-ups in negotiating an internet portal deal with a national ISP. Whatever the case, we're happy to report that Ozisoft has finally managed to put together internet-ready Dreamkey browser software, an official ISP, and an internet portal exclusively for Dreamcast users. All internet disks have been sent to the registered Australian Dreamcast users, and the wheels seem to be turning.

Nice job, Ozisoft - it certainly took you long enough.
