Planning and Community Development is also the home to the City’s Geographic Information Systems management. GIS, as it’s commonly known, is a system that captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data in a geospatial form.  The system basically takes different types of data and links it to a particular location.  In a sense, GIS is the merging of cartography and database technology.

Here are some ways we use GIS:

  • Resource Management
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Cartography
  • Urban Planning
  • Criminology
  • Addressing
  • Code Enforcement
  • Permit Analysis
