D.I.KHAN -- The district police on Wednesday held 19 motorbikers over pillion riding in violation of Section 144 as imposed by the district administration for maintenance of peace during holy month of Muharram.

ISLAMABAD -- The capital administration on Thursday banned riding pillion on motorcycles in certain areas on different days in Muharram.

The provincial government has announced a ban on pillion riding across Sindh, including Karachi, on 9th and 10th Muharram, according to a notification from the Sindh Home department issued on Saturday.

Last year in September, the Sindh government had banned pillion ridding across the province for three days as part of its measures to provide foolproof security to Muharram processions and gatherings.

RAWALPINDI -- The initiative of the provincial government to control crime by slapping a night-time ban on pillion riding seems to have failed to achieve desired results as robbers on motorbikes continue to loot, kill and injure people in Rawalpindi.

KARACHI -- The Sindh government on Friday withdrew its earlier notification, reducing the duration of a ban on pillion riding across Sindh by 11 days as it will now remain in force from Nov 19 to 22.
