How EUROBATS was established
The EUROBATS Secretariat was established by the First Session of the Meeting of Parties in 1995. It started working in Bonn, Germany in 1996 and is co-located with the Secretariat of the Bonn Convention and other environment and development-related United Nations institutions at the UN Campus in Bonn.

Statement by the Secretariats of CMS and EUROBATS - Protecting Bats during the 2026 Ebola Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda: A Call for Evidence-Based Action
The Secretariats of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and the Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS) extend their strong solidarity to the affected communities, front-line health workers, governments, and international partners working to contain the ongoing outbreak of Ebola disease caused by the Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda.
