The EMS committees play a vital role in the overall activities of the EMS; its members are volunteers, from EMS Member Societies and EMS Associate Members. The Italian Association of Agrometeorology and the Foundation for Climate and Sustainability invite applications for the international Best Paper Award 2026 in agrometeorology. The award was established to promote and recognize excellence in agrometeorological research; it is dedicated to Prof Giampiero Maracchi, who greatly contributed to the development of agrometeorology in Italy.[more]

Markus Repnik receives the EMS Silver Medal for his outstanding leadership and impact on the European meteorological community through the creation of the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF), enhancing Europe’s role in sustaining global surface-based observations that are essential for modern weather prediction.[more]

The EMS Council met on 5&6 March in Ingolstadt, Germany. At the recent Session of the EMS Council, the councillors elected Florence Rabier to become the 10th President of the EMS. She will take over the office from Liz Bentley, the first female EMS President, on the closing day of the EMS2026 in Utrecht on 11 September 2026.[more]
