Profile
56 yr. old, lives in Amsterdam with 14 yr daughter Frieda; studied furniture making, restoration & frame making, works as a framemaker & freelance art handler & shipping expert; fell in love with music at age 7, bought 1st single Racey 'Lay Your Love On Me' in 1978 (...), got hooked on Grease, then became a serious KISS addict. Later got into psychedelia, classic rock but also Jacques Brel and Monster Magnet and a lot in between.
Played & starred in The Wreckers (Thee Wreckers these days!), alongside friend & filmmaker Rosto R.I.P.. Band mutated from a 'real band' to a virtual combo of zombie rockers, appearing in Rosto's shorts 'Splintertime', 'No Place Like Home', 'Reruns' a.o.
I own a collection of 1000+ LP's and CD's that gathers dust these days, so... time to sort out just what i really need & need to get rid of. These days listens to African and Asian music, some soundtracks, Noisettes, Scott Walker, Billie Holiday, Bowie, Eno & what have you.
Some ten years ago i turned into an avid concert visitor & taper, taping and following bands around The Netherlands, at small clubs, big venues etc. Stuff like Pretty Things, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Orange Sunshine, The Heads, Broadcast and many more. Try to keep the showgoing at low profile as it was getting too much..
Discovering new music is always great, i'm a muscial traveler. Just a couple of years ago i heard Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba, a band from Mali. This band showed me that it's possible to combine musicianship, beautiful tunes, fun and crazy dancing all in one group. I've seen 'em already 10 times and the band never fails to amaze me. Hope to be able to visit Mali somedays, hope the peace will be back any time soon...
