Profile

At 15 I began seeking out records, blindly in the .50 cent "green tag" bins of the local record store. I had been listening to Nas, A Tribe Called Quest Madlib, People Under The Stairs, DJ Shadow, J Dilla, Deltron 3030... and I needed to know how they made the music, learning the secret was sampling bits, pieces, and elements from old vinyl records, I set out, equipping myself with knowledge from blogs, Waxpoetics magazines, Dusty Fingers vol. 1-15 that I downloaded on a whim, Ultimate Breaks and Beats (I had the full list saved as a PDF).

I have developed my love, and sensibilities by going through probably 500,000 different records at every imaginable sort of place to find them.

Every city I would visit, from NYC, Seattle, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Dayton, Cleveland, Providence, D.C., Boston, Miami, Chicagoand so many many more, I would hit up every record store I could fit in.

I have a love for the classic staples, but I'm mainly going for the different, the almost accidental, genre long abandoned for my classification purposes, if it is interesting, then its within my interest.

Aspiring amateur musicologist seeking to be one of many reforming the discipline from its insular inaccessible narrow academic posture, to a discipline that seeks to move into many worlds, many views, many interpretations, seeing validity on a wider scale, so this particular expression of humanity, recorded music may form a legacy for the scholarly as well as keeping it real for anyone who digs music.

The stats:

Born in 92' (close to infinity by a year...)

Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Oregon

Favorite genres: Hip-Hop, Jazz (in all the myriad forms), Soul, Funk, Psych...genres are a marketing technique, to arbitrarily sort, classify, and categorize music, narrowing it into a box.

I've been told I'm like a sarcastic national geographic.

Always have love for humanity

Salaam means Peace, Peace Upon you beautiful people!
