My friend worked for Polygram and I was babysitting his kids back in 1982. I commented on this box set in his front room and he said he got it from work but he wasn't really a Who fan and gave it to me. I still have it over 40 years later and it is... See full review

You can tell this was released before the 1973 oil crisis because this is a hefty lump of vinyl.

Very underrated album that wasn't helped by the appalling cover. Full of typical Hollies harmonies and recorded at the height of vinyl's popularity in 1970. Probably the last Hollies album to feature Graham Nash, on rhythm guitar on Survival Of The... See full review

The copyright text is in Russian and translates to Universal Music Publishing 2021 Licensed to Perelman LLC. The order of the tracks has been changed from the original 1966 release, presumably to accommodate the 3 bonus tracks at the end of side 2.

Is your 1987 issue numbered? I got mine the day of issue and it is numbered 25846. It's also inside a limited edition HMV box which includes a 12 page 12" square booklet, a badge and is also numbered, but not the same number as on the CD, it has... See full review

I also just picked up a copy of this in near mint condition, complete with the EMI tracing paper inner for only £8. This really is a great sounding record.

I have the original 1962 test pressing of this on two single sided LPs. Side 1 is dated 24th May 1962 and side 2 is dated 12th June 1962. It has the same matrix numbers as this copy with both records having the stamper number 1. Housed in two original... See full review

I would lay money that this is a 1971 re-issue. I have this exact copy with the factory applied price sticker on the cover. It says 19'11 Recommended price (UK) followed by 99np. The new currency didn't come in until February 15th 1971 and by the... See full review

The singer and the performance are woeful, but it's an interesting historical bullet point. Top Six was Radio Luxembourg's equivalent of the Top Of The Pops series of records where current hits were performed by session artists and sold at a budget... See full review

The gatefold is just the inner sleeve images from the UK copy, but it is a unique cover. On the plus side, the pressing sounds fantastic.

Although this reissue is on the MFP label the album has the same matrix numbers as the original LP. All EMI did was change the label and cover.

I have the original and the 2018 and I don't think the focus was especially sharp on the original either. The big difference is the colour saturation and the fact that the original LP had a gloss finish to the cover as opposed to the matt finish on... See full review

The Odeon label has an alternate category number of PPCS3040 on the label which implies that it was an export copy. The Parlophone label matches the category number on the sleeve.

EMI used the code ‘’GRAMOPHLTD’’ G=1 R=2 A=3 M=4 O=5 P=6 H=7 L=8 T=9 D=0

The GL converts to 18 and the GM converts to 14. This means the side marked GL 3 was the 18th stamper made from the third lacquer and the side marked GM 3 was the 14th stamper... See full review

This 1995 DMM reissue has a crisp top end but is completely lacking in bass although what it does have is very clean. The vocals are mixed way too deep into the sound and, as a result, sound lost and muddy. The original issues have far more attack and... See full review

Where Have You Been? is incorrectly credited to Sid Gunter when it is actually written by Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann. Later greatest hits albums correct this error. It should also really be titled Where Have You Been (All My Life).

The bass line on the half speed master goes right down to your boots and then some. The top end is clean and warm with no sibilance. This is the best way to listen to this ELO masterpiece.

My copy of this release doesn't have Made In Holland on the label. Looking at the images of the labels Made In Holland is in a different font to the rest of the label. I suspect this was added after the labels had been printed.

Track 1 on side 2 is actually Wrong Way and not Wrong Again (Let's Face It) at least on the F-Beat XXLP7 UK version. This is the Difford/Tillbrook song that Squeeze recorded and was given away as a flexi-disc with Smash Hits.

Strange that this is a 4 track vinyl when the sleeve notes clearly say that "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" was also recorded at the session. The performance is not as electric as earlier Gene Vincent sessions but is still pretty damn good, especially... See full review
