Given that vinyl was a dying format in 1994 - impressed with this release. Dynamic and crystalline mastering. Discs themselves are flat, centred and with fairly low surface noise.

To my ears, in my system/room, I prefer - overall - this reissue/remix to my NM UK original pressing. I was fortunate that my pressing is flat, centred, and quiet-ish.

I felt the same about the 'Plastic Ono Band' reissue/remix.

In both cases I felt... See full review

Another lucky recipient of a sound pressing: flat, centred, minimal surface noise.

Recording and mastering perfectly fine, too.
Emma Anderson - Pearlies

Enjoyable record. Pressed at GZ. My copy is flat, centred, with fairly low surface noise.

The mastering is fairly good; reasonable dynamics; reasonable soundstage.

If you like the songs then this LP is recommended.

Frank Arkwright doesn't master at half-speed. Sounds very good though.

To my ears in my system and room, an uninspired release.

This is the same vinyl master as from the 2010 'Station To Station' Deluxe Edition boxset; which was then also used for the pressing included in the 'Who Can I Be Now?' boxset.

Which is to... See full review
Belle And Sebastian* - Late Developers

Flat and boxed-in sounding mastering.

(Production master seems to be from Frank Arkwright but I assume this is an Optimal in-house cut)

My copy has a slight edge warp and slightly off-centre Side A.

Great songs but a disappointment sonically.

does anyone know if this reissue was cut from analog tape or from hi-res?

Hi-res. Sony don't let Kevin Grey have the tapes.

Hi John - the Tim Young mastered Rough Trade original pressing is my go-to (MPO pressing). My cartridge and speakers lean a tad warm, which helps tame the brittleness. When they were released about 10 years ago, I grabbed several of... See full review

If you're wondering, this sounds very good indeed. Well worth the low entry fee.

I also have 'Slow Attack' and 'Brett Anderson' on vinyl, and those are disappointing. 'Wilderness' sounds great, though.

Somebody knows if this vinyl is cut from analog masters?

I believe Grizzly Bear recorded this album digitally (via a 16 channel Mytek).

Ryan Adams - Romeo & Juliet

Great songwriting... but I'm guessing it's recorded to Pro Tools or Logic; with programmed drums, soft synths, and plug-ins. Sounds like it's in a genealogy with 'Ryan Adams', 'Prisoner', and elements of 'Big Colors; but lacks the sonics of those... See full review
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left

To my ears, in my system/room, this sounds superior to the AAA 'Five Leaves Left' that I have in the 1986 Hannibal Records "Fruit Tree" boxset. By quite a margin.

Like most, I first heard this on the UK V2 CD release in 1998. If you remember, the back sleeve proclaimed (very unusual for the day) "Original master recorded on 35 mm magnetic film" and there's some articles archived to the internet with Dave... See full review

Cleaned on my RCM (3 stage process: 15% isopropyl, L'art du Son, distilled water) and - as others have reported - quite a lot of surface noise although no non-fill or other defects on my copy.
