Incredible Box. just a tad disappointed on the quality control in the book. So many of the "Live USA 1979" track times are bad errors. 6 of the tracks are 6:41mins and Can't Expain is 6:34 while others are just plain wrong. Odd nobody noticed these simple errors.
I don’t care for most of the who are you studio album, too proggy for me. but I bought this for discs 4-7 The rehearsals and live performances and it’s totally worth it! Great to hear the lads enjoying themselves jamming and messing around with covers Great to hear them „knocking into shape” Who are you . The Shepperton gig from may 78 contains enjoyably noisy aggressive versions of My Wife and My Generation. It’s fascinating to hear the original version of WGFA prior to the overdubbing and editing of Keith Moon’s drum part Now to the absolute jewel of this set The 2 cd live 79 set , they are playing like absolute beasts It’s a composite show compiled from gigs in Pontiac, Detroit & Philly I’m as kenny-sceptic as the next man but there’s no denying all of them absolutely nailed it. This maybe one of the great live Who albums. Pete and John sound wasted but play brilliantly. There’s trouble with the crowd and Pete has to tell the crowd to take one step back to prevent a crush. Another layer of Trauma for the band to carry on top of the one they were already carrying. This is a phoenix from the ashes story. If you like live who this set is worth it even if you don’t care for the studio album
Great Box Set. The Blu-ray is awesome. Every song is elevated in the Immersive Surround Mix. Steven Wilson did another excellent job. Live USA is great. You get some horns in the mix along with a double bass live track of "Trick of the Light". Everyone is aware that this was Keith Moon's last recording as the band continued on with Kenny Jones. Who Are You is another excellent album by the band and this Box does not disappoint.
