This is a really insanely good pressing. The level of detail is all there. One of my favorite pressings in my collection.

Time and time again McCartney has displayed an ability to refocus just when everyone has written him off and surprise his critics. After the disasters of his last three records, he really needed something special up his sleeve, and this is one of the best records of his solo career. Despite the cast of thousands that make up its producers (including Trevor Horn, Neil Dorfsman, Steve Lipson, David Foster and Elvis Costello; George Martin provides string arrangements), it's remarkably consistent in feel and quality. Think of it as Son of Tug of War.
Loved this album when it came out, and 35+ years later, it holds up pretty well. The LP is missing CD track 13, "Ou Est Le Soleil", which never really fit the vibe of the rest of the album anyway. This is the 1989 Specialty pressing, and it sounds more open and spacious than the CD I grew up on, with more depth to the low end. My copy plays nice and clean with faint surface noise at the beginning of each side.
This is worth getting for CD2 alone, McCartney and Costello were really going for it when they recorded those demos in 1987! The Lovers That Never Were and Tommy's Coming Home are particular highlights (and pretty much unbelievable that the latter sank without a trace), but the early versions of the album tracks will also be welcome to any who dislike the big-production sound on the main disc.
This is a very nice sounding album by Paul McCarney. Recording, production and pressing are done very well, and I am shure that the audiophiles would find this album intersting.
This box set is incredibly good - the remaster on cd is superb and the bonus are fabulous - once again the book is as great as can be- Got a French pressing which is slightly different to that referenced here - anyway the sound of that vinyl is really great - beautiful pressing !

Is it standard to come with a thick yellow inner sleeve?
If so then this is a great release.
