Hijack - The Horns Of Jericho Reissue

Seems I cant add to the old thread on this subject. Anyway, following a link for the DJ Supreme remix 12" that I was reading about on the Diggers With Gratitude website I see that DJ Supreme is rereleasing the Horns Of Jericho on triple vinyl.

I was very impressed with the packaging myself. It is a little pricey but when compared to the average of around 60-70 pounds for a 'Reservoir Records' copy its not so bad.

Some more info here. There will be three different pressings (difference is the colour of vinyl only), the first one has been released last Saturday (red/yellow/green), limited to 53 copies only.

It's worth it. A rough version containing one verse from doomsday also. Gave me goosebumps listening to it for the first time!

Delayed, pressing plant waiting for the white Vinyl still. For everyone preordering there is a special offer for the red/yellow/blue version. This was also available for 25 hours online some days ago (to the Zurich gig) and now exclusively for the ones who preordered.

Think I might wait for the white vinyl anyway, it is decent of Supreme to offer the coloured vinyl to those who pre-ordered. Usually I find coloured vinyl doesn't sound as good as black, so it would be interesting to know the sound quality of these.

Hey Skatman, I am finding your cassette submissions very interesting. The Parlour Talk '635 feet' cassette was released before it came out on Hairy Parents. I have a copy with '1996' on the spine and no mention of Hairy Parents and no contact number. I would have bought it at the time of release, I also have an old Numskullz tape but have lost the cover. My memory is not so good but I think it came out before any of their singles.

Packing the white version next week as soon as they arrive to ship them out asap!

Yes, there were two Numskullz tapes before they had any vinyl out, both not on the database yet.

Very interesting news on the Parlour Talk cassette, I will have to ask Majesta for that one. Is it the same tracks on it?
We are currently working on some of the old material to be released btw, should be out by the end of the year (not Hairy Parents stuff but from the same posse, early/mid 90's stuff). But we're in the early stages of that project only, so I can't tell more at the moment. It will be an EP.

The Parlour Talk cassette I have does have a different tracklisting. There are eight tracks listed, it doesn't have 'time travel as a way to score' or 'I'm One'. Otherwise the tracks are the same as the picture on the listing. I didn't know that The Numskullz had two cassettes before they released vinyl. As I have lost the cover of mine I can't tell which one I have but it is dope and has 'trouble on my mind' among other tracks. I would like the other tape though, I'm sure they were limited at the time. I will have to keep a lookout for the Undivided Attention EP you mention, I was a big fan of their stuff back in the day, a talented and quirky crew who also put out a cool fanzine for a few issues. I lost touch with a lot of UK stuff in the 2000's so must go back and check out the Hairy Parents label.

Sounds great. Why not adding it to the database? I'm sure you have some good stuff to add here anyway!
I will check for the cassettes again (I only have audio files, no physical copies unfortunately) and let you know which one got 'Trouble on my mind' on it.

I don't have many titles that are not already on the database, but I should look into adding a few pieces. Information on demos etc would be incredibly hard to find.

That's the "Chapter 2" one you got there. I will borrow it of a friend and submit it then. Can also make some high quality scans and send them over in case you want to print them out?

I am afraid those are not sent out yet, the final press is expected for the weekend or at least early next week. Are you sure it isn't just the regular 'The Horns Of Jericho MP3 Download' mail but also a mail letting you know it is dispatched? As these mails are sent out these days, starting a couple of days ago and hopefully finished soon.

No I got an Email about the mp3's and another one to say that the Lp has shipped. Maybe they are sending the coloured vinyl instead - I will find out soon.

The coloured (blue) has been packed last Friday and been shipped earlier this week.
The others will be packed as soon as they arrive. I will be helping packing them that's why I know ;)

That 'Hold No Hostage' demo is a great bonus. Hijack's drum programming was awesome, they rightly get props for their turntable virtuosity and K'Sly's booming aggression. But for sampling they were streets ahead and it's a pity they didn't continue to develop with more material - should have been as big as The Prodigy or Massive Attack. I still never found out the loop they used for 'I had to serve you'.

Agreed on what you said about Hijack btw, they were levels ahead at that time and brought the UK Rap to the European mainland.

Yes I received notification of that today, the Email I got last week was incorrect as it was the Remix 12" which was shipped and not the LP.

He's not happy, is he? It's a pity but I'm sure Supreme is releasing the album legitimately - he's hardly being secretive about who is putting the reissue out. I don't know if the story of how Hijack got together and split up was ever published - they were a very secretive crew. No vinyl for me yet either.

Listening to the LP now, sounds and looks great. Back to Brixton thumping! There is some info on the crew and their history and possibly a dig at K-Sly about the Pied Piper tune he was involved in. Maybe this is the reason for the comments on Instagram. Anyway after a year talking about this album it's great to finally get a vinyl copy. Hopefully someone will have another topic to post on this group forum.

Regarding K-Sly - I left my mark on his Facebook where his rants where even worse.
I said it before there, they should clear any issues personally and if that doesn't work and they want to then perhaps judicially. But they should stop doing all that in public and at the expenses of their fans.
Gutted to say he removed not only mine but every critical comment there (but left his statement (which is more than an opinion than a statement)). That speaks volumes I think.

However, would be great if the groups activity would be going on indeed! And if it's only three posting here for now :P

I agree Skatman - social media is not the way for former Hijack members to air their grievances. I think I have a better idea: Good old fashioned Diss Tracks!

Got it.. Rockin it... Getting used to the mix... Enjoying the previously 'unreleased' tracks a lot.. Gatefold and info sheet is cool... Shows what can be done with a rerelease.. Little issue with one track but should get that sorted.. Would definitely recommend this.. And I still believe it's one of the best UK rap LPs.. Period!

Just noticed that Music on Vinyl have this album due for release in the next few days. Juno also have it listed on their 'Coming Soon' section. Seems to be the same format as the original vinyl release. Strange!

Murder in the First degree is a stark reminder to me of the lyrics Vs reality shift I noticed as I grew up a bit!
